章 18: Weak

The sound of the heavy breathing of the man that was currently hiding in the block tree could be heard.
Krrrrrr Krrrrrr
A big saber tooth tiger was chasing and hunting him.
It's been three days since Reh was thrown and exiled in the Carnage Forest. And in those three days were a hellish time in his life.
He's tired, hungry, and most of all, thirsty. And not to mention is emotionally and mentally drained.
He couldn't even close his eyes for a moment because once he closed them, another monster would come out and chase after him.
He couldn't even find a single source of clean water.
Food? The sunlight cannot pass through the thick leaves of block trees, so there's no vegetation around. The block trees have no fruit either.
And Reh was sure that he would not be going to survive one more day if this continued. As soon as possible, he needed to find water or food.
'First... I needed to find water or even fruit...' Reh internally thought bu...
Snap!
Reh stopped thinking and halted where he was. Then he looked down... Only to see a twig that he stepped on!
Krrrrrr Krrrrrr
No need to look. Reh knew that the saber tooth heard it and now knew where he was.
Reh started to run as fast as he could, but sadly, tiredness, hunger, and thirst were taking their toll on his body. It didn't take long before he started to slow down.
Krrrrrrraaaaa!!
The saber-tooth roared.
Reh looked at his surrounding to find any hiding place or things that he could use. When he looked at his right side, he saw a burrow that he could use as a hiding spot. Reh could only pray and hope that there was no creature residing on that burrow if he wanted to survive.
Using his remaining strength, Reh quickly goes and jumps inside the burrow, and luckily, it is an empty burrow.
It is a 4 feet burrow and wide enough for Reh to lie down.
Krrrrrrraaaaa!!
The saber-tooth tried to reach Reh with its paw, but there was no way it could reach, as its pawed was not small enough to fit inside the burrow. The saber-tooth only shook its head when it realized that it had way to reached Reh, then it started to walk away.
Kururururu Kurarararara
There's a different sound that could be heard throughout the forest.
It's been a few minutes since the saber tooth was gone. At the moment, Reh was lying down with his arms wide open and looking outside the burrow.
He doesn't know if it is night or day as everything around him is all dark. All he could see were the lush black leaves.
On the very first day, Reh came here, he wanted to give up and let fate decide what was going to happen to him, but in anything, Reh was sure that death was the only situation waiting for him.
However, every time Reh had a thought like that, the picture of his mother came up in his mind.
Reh was born as a weak child. Ever since he started attending school, he always went home and either had bruises all over his face or tattered clothes because of the bullying he received.
But even if that was the case, his mother always welcomed him with a warm and loving smile on her face. And always remind him that retaliation is not an answer to his situation and always help others in need.
Reh doesn't know who his father is. All he knew was that his father left her mother when he found out she was pregnant. Since then, her mother raised him alone, enduring all the hardship to give Reh a better life.
Drip Drip
Reh woke up because of something trickling on his face. He slowly wakes up and stretches his body. For the first time being here, finally, get a good night's sleep. Reh looked up outside the burrow only to see that there was a transparent clear dripping from each leaf.
"W-water!!!!"
Re loudly said in excitement.
He quickly stands up and gets outside the burrow. He disregarded that he was in one of the most dangerous places on Deimos. All he thinks is to drink that water. Upon getting outside, he quickly positions himself. He raised his head, opened his mouth, and extended his tongue to get the drop of water.
But while doing that, something caught his attention. He doesn't know if it was because of the drop of water or because he got a rest that he could see this time.
In his peripheral vision, he noticed that there was a clearing on his left side. But that was not the one that caught his attention. It was a single small tree in the center of the clearing.
And he was sure what it was. One could see the fruit of that tree everywhere on the market back on Earth. And it was also the name of one of the colors.
"O-orange tree..."
Reh mumbled under his breath.
With approximately 90% of water, orange is one of the best substitutes for water. Using his minimal recovered strength, Reh quickly ran where the clearing was located.
And when he was only one step to reach the clearing, he was shocked at the sight.
In his days running around here on Carnage Forest, all he could see was withered vegetation everywhere. No single plant nor flower is sprouting aside from the seedlings of block trees.
But this clearing was different. It was full of vegetation. There's green grass, flowers of different colors at the same time the orange tree that was placed in the center. Without wasting any time and due to hunger and thirst, he quickly went where the orange tree was located.
Upon closer look, now he was sure that it was an orange. Reh picked one of the ripe fruits, then instantly peeled it and consumed it afterward.
"Hmm... Uhmm..."
Reh couldn't hold his voice when he tasted the fruit. It was full of sweetness and juiciness, and for some unknown reason, it was delicious.
And as Reh savored the taste of the orange, he didn't notice a being that was lurking in the dark.

Burpppp
Reh lay down on the grass after he ate all the orange fruit. With this, he could survive a little bit more until he found a source of food.
Now that he saw this glade and orange tree, he was now sure that somewhere here, there was also a place like this.
After a few minutes of resting, Reh decided to stand up and come back to the burrow. While he shook off the dirt on his tattered clothes, Reh wondered at the sudden darkness that engulfed the space where he was on.
He was about to look up to see what was but couldn't continue because something hit him in the face.
"Argh!!!"
Reh flew away and rolled on the ground because of the hit.
'W-what was that? I-I feel like my jaw dislocated...' Reh thought as he tried to get up but...
"Ugh!!! Blaargh!! Cough!! Cough!!
This time, he was hit on the stomach and vomited all the oranges he ate.
"Cough! Huff huff... Cough... Ahhh!!"
Reh gritted his teeth as he endured the pain. Reh rolled over to see who was attacking him. And he froze when he saw what was that.
A black skeleton.
It has the same height as Reh. With ragged tattered cloths that cover some parts of its body and have some weird black particles flying around the skeleton.
Reh feels a chill run down his spine.
Though it has no flesh--eyes to see, Reh felt and knew it was looking at him menacingly.
Thud!
"Argh!!"
Using one foot, the skeleton trampled Reh on his chest. Reh began his struggle to escape the skeleton's trampling, but it was no use.
'W-what the hell with this skeleton? Weren't skeletons supposed to be too light?!! How can't I escape?' Reh internally thought as he continued to struggle.
And at this moment, the skeleton's left hand, which had been covered with cloth, emerged. The skeleton was holding a black sword. It lifted its left hand, and Reh knew what was going to happen next, that's why he used all his strength to escape, but the skeleton didn't budge at all.
"HELPPP!!!! SOMEBODY!!! HELPP!!!"
Reh shouted. He knew that nobody could hear his voice but still...
"D-don't!!!"
Then, in one fell swoop, the skeleton cut Reh's right leg!
"AHHHHHH!!!!!!"
Reh shouted in pain.
The green scenery of the clearing was painted red as the blood of Reh as the blood gushed out.
And after a second, the skeleton cut Reh's remaining legs!
"AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Reh could only do was to shout and cry in agony.
"Ah... Ugh! Argh... Huf... Huff..."
Shing
The sound of the sword when the skeleton put the tip on Reh's stomach. And in a skillfully and efficient move, the skeleton stabbed Reh's stomach, and the skeleton even rotated the sword while stabbing it.
"AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Reh felt that his stomach was being churned up at the skeleton's action.
And for the following moments, the cry of Reh in pain and agony could be heard in the forest.

Reh's POV
Ah... How long has it been? An hour? a day? I don't know anymore.
I'm tired. Hungry. Thirsty. I can't take it anymore. I want to rest.
Argh! It hurts!
Somebody... Help me... Mothe...
Just what did I do?
Why? Why are you doing this to me? Why did it happen to me? I-I didn't do anything.
What mistake did I make to happen and experience all of this?
I-I just want to live and study in regular and peaceful life.
Graduate and have a high-paying job.
