章 355: Bonds That Matter (3/3)

Mallin's whole body jerked at the sound of Lysander's voice. He lifted his face, revealing a brand new bruise on the cheek that had been hidden against the floor. The corner of his lip had been split open, and a rivulet of blood trickled down his chin to spatter on the shoulder of the white tunic he'd been sleeping in.

A delirium induced by the Creature's connection to him clouded the usual sky blue of his eyes as they floated over his brother. He blinked at Lysander, yet seemed totally unaware of his presence even though he was mere inches away. 

Alaric now noticed that in addition to the blankets being on the floor, the bed was askew and the bedside table had been knocked out of place. One of Mallin's feet had become twisted in the bedsheets which were still tucked under the corner of the mattress, Alaric reached over to untangle it.
