After a few songs, Rowan surprised himself by not caring at all if he was dancing the right way or what he looked like with Willow half-dragging him around the floor. He'd forgotten who he was supposed to be to these people and how just a short while ago, this sense of belonging was something he'd convinced himself he neither wanted nor deserved.
He just knew at this moment, he was having fun.
A few of the villagers had even begun to smile at him as he stumbled past them on alcohol-fueled legs in his best attempt to move in time with the music. The biggest surprise yet was that he'd begun to smile back.
When Wren spotted him, he abandoned his place at the bar to stand against the wall where there was a better view. He clutched a drink in each hand while Nicasi stood next to him, looking an awful lot like he was giving Wren some kind of unspoken support. Rowan wasn't sure what that was about, but he liked seeing them together.
Look at Rowan making new friends and having fun. It's a proud moment for me. The extended fluff session will wrap up in just a couple more chapters. I promise some of the conversations during them had a purpose...the rest are just fun nonsense. Time to wake up Ciprian and his new BFF, the Creature, who still doesn't have a name.
