章 5: Life Worth Living 2

As I finished resting and understanding my situation I decided to continue my journey, I need a proper bedding to rest on.

After I fully read the book with the golden hue it also disappeared with me, and with golden letters in front of me it said

'Im sorry, I'll bestow you a gift'

I do not understand what that means, but I'll know once I get my rest. The highway continued for me. It's been an hour since I drove from Jask.

And half an hour later I saw it. A military outpost. It seems to be a checkpoint of some sort.

Some soldiers seem to have noticed me. I drove towards them.

"Stop!"

I stopped as they said and jumped off the motorbike with my duffle bag and looked at them.

They seemed shocked at a child who was using a motor bike with a duffle bag.

Alone and in winter at that. They ran to me with worry.

"Oh my god it is a child"

"We need to report this"

They coughed and looked at the tattered kid I am.

"Are you okay kid? Lets go you shouldn't be here"

I nodded and the soldier took my hand, he was gently holding my hand. The soldiers inside who saw me walking in seemed to be shocked.

The Golden hue of letters once again appeared before me.

'I will grant one of your wish'

With the world I created, I know how hard it is to live here, especially in a world where ranking and background matter.

It won't allow my first wish so I simply wished for 'Something useful' and I felt a mild headache afterwards, guess whoever sent those golden letters already gave it.

I wish I could've revived mom but it won't allow me, that was my very first wish after all.

This world had skills, I think it gave me that one, as a rectangular screen appeared before me, detailing what I received.

You are now virtually connected to the digital world and the real world. You have the computing power of a phone but with a burden. You easily build up fatigue.

►Mental power boost 20%

►Fatigue buildup [0/20]

There's only a few ways to get a Unique Tier of Skill, and it's either Innate or getting it by a third party.

"Hey champ, we'll have a meal"

After I came in front of the checkpoint the Soldiers took me in. Even having meals with them.

"So how is it?"

It's been months since I tasted something cooked, I smiled and cheerfully said

"It's good! Better than canned meals!"

Their expressions turned sour, of course I expected it, of course who would feed a 4 year old canned goods at this age? I ate all of that in half a year. Due to that I tried being resourceful after finding a sack of rice.

"Well you'll be eating like this everyday. Is there a special dish you'd like to eat?"

After swallowing the food in my mouth, I solemnly looked at the food

"Fried chicken with that weird red sauce we are used to.."

I can't help but sob, I tried not to, but being an emotional child I am, I cannot help it. I was weak and vulnerable at this age.

The soldiers tried to calm me down, saying 'it's okay' and even patting my back. It's rude to do this in front of food, mom told me that.

I lost everything, that's how bad it is for me, I am not attached to the money, I just want my family. I could already see the sympathy in the eyes of the soldiers.

When I stopped crying some even tried joking, some made me laugh but ultimately I stopped crying and finished my food.

From there onwards I met Chief Sergeant Mills, the one responsible for the whole Military outpost.

One thing that strangely happened is that the moment his eyes lay upon me is where his serious face disappeared and a face of nostalgia, sorrow and guilt appeared.

I don't understand as I didn't write him in the book but before I could jump in my thoughts he hugged me and declared that the Military would adopt me.

Sergeant became my adoptive father. Though I won't complain since having a better father would be something that's always welcome.

All of that happened for a year in the military. I studied with the subjects they taught me and learned earnestly.

On my birthday they gave me gifts but one of the soldiers saw my talent at using guns. So he gave me a gun while supervising.

–Bang! Bang!

The sounds of a gun being fired surrounded the shooting range.

The Target 25 meters away shows bullet holes in its middle of the paper target.

The soldiers supervising me couldn't help but be impressed.

"W-woah!"

"You had a talent in the gun so might as well develop that right?"

"Yeah, Damian is also good in academic subjects, he's literally a prodigy"

I got to know more about the soldiers around here, they're like college rejects, but of course they can work out here if they want to.

They voluntarily joined the military for its pay, the more I talked with them, the more life here makes me forget the tragedy in my hometown.

"thank you…"

"Yep we're going to teach you how to handle a gun"

I nodded with excitement

"You better be careful, alright son?"

Of course Sergeant Mills was watching, I call him Sergeant as per military etiquette. But I consider him as my father.

They thought everything that I needed here. From the in betweens I never mentioned in the novel.

They even taught me the people in here, including their prideful nature. I already knew that as I wrote the novel, ranking and background.

That's all that matters in social classes. The strong prey the weak type of world.

But I have nothing to worry about as it is only prevalent to jobs and schools. Well I'm not in school yet and this military grounds has a proper boss, aka Serge Mills.

"Alright go ahead and see how good you are with the gun, especially this one is custom made for you"

Uncle Troy said, giving me a gun, a 5 year old.

Well it doesn't matter as I am talented in it. Speaking about talents. This world also has its eye on talents.

I can't help but have the eyes of the guilds on me. Once I graduate from an academy, I have my goals set, so I don't need to join any guild.

And the way I'm showing my talent with a gun, I might be a little safe, as guns are only used as secondary weapons.

People can move faster than a bullet as they have superpowers residing in them. So guns aren't favorable that much unlike the bow, which you can magically make arrows with.

Guns on the other hand would always need a bullet. Either way it would always do the job. The bullet and the gun are separate things that could be enhanced.

"Ehem, Damian."

I looked at Serge, with a questioning look.

"Do you know how one can obtain a skill?"

Of course I do, to obtain a skill there are several ways:

1. Being born with it, in other words a Unique skill only related to the user. I wrote the Protagonist of my Novel as one having an [{Unique} Tier] skill. It being [Dominatus] once he defeated an enemy he would obtain a copy of their skills.

2. Getting a skill orb from a Gate, dungeon or towers. A skill orb is a rare item one could get, if one ever gets this is the same as winning a lottery.

3. Repetition, doing the same action multiple times till mastery is a way of doing skill, it is impractical because you need to dedicate your life by using this method. Dexterity also plays in it, as the dex is high so as the chance of getting a skill, though limited to a rank, skill is still a skill.

4. Learning it from the original skill user. Skill users can pass down their skill to a successor if they want to.

"I'm going to pass down to you a special skill I had"

My eyes widened and looked at Serge with shock, passing down a skill is the same as passing down a martial guide.

"Of course it's up to you to learn it properly, since this skill is a Passive type"

There are two types of Skills, Passive and Active. When encountering a passive skill orb on a gate, dungeon or tower it would be a jackpot.

Unlike in auctions buying a passive skill would be over hundreds of millions if sold.

Active skills could evolve to a passive skill as long as the skill is not an action. For example, [{D}Tier][Muscle Respiration][Active] it could make your muscles relax and be relieved of stress, it could also make it less tired. It's an active skill but since it's not action required like [{E}Tier][Firefist][Active] where when you punch a blast of fire it would not evolve to a passive skill.

"Are you ready, Damian?"

"Y-yes!"

Serge tapped my head, I felt information go inside my head and a mild headache as it was being processed.

"It's called [Marksman Diary] just say Status it would show itself to you"

Status, it's a Status screen that everyone had, it would display your personal information only to yourself.

"status"

I then for the first time saw my status

«Martial Guide»

[Dragon breath][Star-Realm][Incomplete]

–It's the result of perfecting different breathing styles altogether, making one breath like a dragon. And feel like a dragon.

►Dragon's constitution–Mana easily builds up, healing factor is upgraded and a new body, worthy of a dragon's physique.

►Breathing Effects– Cleanses one's mind And enhances the body to its limit.

►Medicine boost– Remembers medicine, herbs and pills and would boost their effect the more it is used.

«Skills»

[{Unique}Tier][Operating System][Passive]

►Fatigue buildup [0/20]

[{Unique}Tier][Marksman Diary][Passive]

–Any weapon that belongs to a ranged category will be familiar to use no matter how difficult it is. Referenced to the gun of the west you are much more accurate at noon and your bullets will be unlimited at a span of a minute.

►Its High Noon─ Every enemy target would be headshot with 100% true damage and the amount of bullets needed will be infinite.

┍ Can only be used at 12pm and is only active till 12:01

┝ Bullet penetration will be true damage

┕ Bullet speed is boosted by 200%

►Quickdraw─ Stance oriented technique, after identifying all the threats you can shoot them all inside a second, but the user will be a sitting duck. Requires high dexterity.

►Memories of a Marksman─ Due to the nature of the skill, it can be passed down to a successor. Users must acknowledge the successor before completely passing down the skill. Once it is passed down the successor could add their own perk on this skill.

[{Unique}Tier][Coherent Mindset][Passive]

–User's thoughts would be clear as a still ocean, the user's thought process is hard to sway. Due to this skill, Illusions would barely work on you, your five senses work better than normal at all times.

«Bloodline»

–???

===

Not only two but three Passive and Unique skill types, Right now my worth is Higher than anyone out there.

But of course Only one is suited for combat, which makes my worth less.

I don't need to showcase these, as it will lead to trouble before I go to an academy.

I guess [Coherent Mindset] is the one I'm born with. After all the other two is the one I received, all in all Marksman Diary is a very special case.

It's Unique tier, meaning it's only special for the user itself. It should not be able to be passed to a successor.

Then something caught my eye, the Martial guide category. Martial arts too is a good way to learn offense and defense.

Skills are just an extra ability that makes you inhuman, Martial guides on the other hands are always related to weapons, including your fist.

If I have to describe it, Skills are an extension yo a gun while Martial guide is how you aim your gun.

Martial guide is an actual 'skill' unlike skill which are just phenomenons that will give you extra advantage.

Since martial guides also hold magical feats most of the time they are kept by martial artists to themselves, only passed down to families.

Guilds have their own martial guides, passed to their own families, it was tradition to pass it down to a successor as it is valued.

There were also some martial guides being sold, but the price was dependent on how difficult it is to learn.

The difficulty of each martial guide are rated from Minor-Realm, Standard-Realm, Major realm, Advanced-Realm and lastly The most difficult Star-Realm.

There are only a few Star-realm Graded Martial guides in History. As each was unable to find a successor or was just lost in history.

The most surprising thing is that Dragon Breath being a Martial guide. I only see this as a breathing technique like in yoga. I didn't know it was a martial guide, but incomplete?

Lastly, the Bloodline. I created this one special thing in mind, special abilities only available in one's bloodline. Like how yellow hair and blue eyes are prevalent in Royals. Something like that.

It's quite rare to have a Bloodline, I made that with the thought of it being awesome, though it's suppose to show me what it is, since it's now showing meaning I don't have the qualifications yet.

I can always learn about it later, so I don't have to rush trying to find the requirements for it to activate.

"So… did the skill properly pass to you son?"

"Yes Serge!"

"and as you know, you need my acknowledgment to completely have this skill pass unto you, so work hard"

I nodded my head, raising my gun with both hands holding on it, I aimed at the targets at the shooting range.

I need more training, I need to get stronger to be on par with my cousin. Wait for me Dimitri.
