Eleonore’s POV
The car ride back home was a silent one. I had left Michael and Margaret at the older woman’s apartment in favor of going back with the twins with a less than enthusiastic goodbye and a promise to stay in contact if anything new about the demon should develop. For extra measure I gave Michael my phone number and told him to call me if there was anything he needed.
I stared out the window as we drove, Hayden was behind the wheel with Rhett beside him in the passenger’s seat, leaving me alone in the back with nothing but my thoughts. I didn’t mind the silence so much, but it was the tension that seemed to accompany it that I felt was strangling me. I had never felt–or even been in a situation–like this before with either of them.
