章 47: Father

Meghan gasped at Ray's declaration. She looked over at the man who was apparently Leon's dad. His aggressive and brutish nature towards his own son suggested that there wasn't even a hint of his former self left in him. She watched on as Leon struggled desperately to try and get his father to return to his senses. His voice came out loud and cracking from the sheer distress that he must have been feeling. He practically begged his father to recognize him to no avail. The man he once called dad no longer existed behind his familiar outer shell.

A heavy lump formed above Meghan's heart. She felt his pain. If something similar had happened to her parents… no, she didn't want to even think about that.

"I'll—I'll cover you." She told Ray, "You be careful too. Don't do anything stupid."

"Not planning to." Ray replied, "I still have to keep that promise I made to your mom."
