The lunch had been prepared to perfection as usual. Lia sat next to Jack and helped him cut his steak into small pieces encouraging him to eat his vegetables.

Lia caught her mother looking at her disapprovingly on multiple occasions but chose to ignore her and concentrate on her son.

After they had all finished their dessert, Ryan cleared his throat to speak.

“When I first brought Lia here, Mom, you asked me to tell you the story about how we met. Today, I would like everyone here to hear the story,” Ryan announced.

Lia sat back in her chair and crossed her arms. She was going to have a front-row seat on the reactions from her parents as they had this story.
