I made my way out of the manor looking up to the sky, one that was without stars or moons, just endless crags and debris of broken planets and planetoids, the broken remains of a universe. I walked past the manor until I got to the edge of the ark land, I sometimes wonder what it's like to see water, and not just from streams or rivers found on Ark-Land but rather from the ocean, the original ocean, and not this bleak Oscillating flow of sand in front of me. Looking at the dull golden brown ocean of death and endless descent made me depressed, because now with everything that's happened today the current state of the fucking world seems to hold a lot more meaning to me than it should…but then again it doesn't mean I have to care.
"You know there's a beauty to it." I turned, startled to see my mom standing there, and looking a whole lot more different than this morning. She had a tail, a fur coat, different set of ears and her golden eyes seemed to be actively glowing. Her face was a little bit more monkey like, looking like the perfect split between man and monkey, it was a weird look for her, but even at that she's still one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen.
"A beauty to what?" I asked confused, not at all sure what she was going on about.
"This world, our reality and the Chaos that comes with it. Sure so many people have been trying for countless lifetimes to change it, but when you think about it son, does this world really need changing. We've all learnt to thrive and succeed and make the best of what the universe has become. We found order in the chaos, now we just have to structure it. There are many monkey tribes across the cursed ocean, within many Ark-Lands claimed and unclaimed, all the monkey demons have been waiting for a chance to rise up and claim a part of this world for ourselves. So we have been selectively breeding our heirs, ensuring a pure bloodline until the person who resonates the most with the tools of Sun Wukong comes along.
Unfortunately that person is not you, your father was born into the sect automatically owning fruit and flowers mountain. The nimbus I'm sure you've seen hanging around has never been claimed, it found it's way back here some 300 years ago and has been keeping out of sight, it is a demon and a tool too. And then the golden Headband was won by my family during the last tribe enclave 35 years ago. we became it's guardians; because by right of combat it was determined that the next monkey prince would be born from our Wind-Ice Macaque tribe. A pure blooded monkey prince with a strong bloodline of the great sage, and my child would have been that.
But years of selective breeding and a lot of broken hearts went down the drain when your father somehow found his way into hidden enclave that held the Water Curtain Cave. And like all ancient fairy tale, he found a monkey demon in human form bathing and was enamored by her beauty. He took me, killing my mother and three of my sisters in the process and bound me in my human form, and then he had me, over and over and over again.
Now I won't lie, he broke me, at some point I even began to look forward to his touch. To the way he humiliated me and made me beg for his seed, the disgrace was something I could never wash off. I wanted to die and then you came along, and you just made everything much worse. So you were born, a grotesque abomination of human and demonic proportions. I wanted to drown you in the cursed ocean, in fact I almost did. And then those black eyes of yours turned golden, blazing brighter with a touch of green and white in the middle, a perfect mesh of your demon and human heritage.
You weren't the monkey prince we have all been waiting for, but perhaps you are the monkey prince we needed. And in that moment I saw you, just before your father bound your demon side, I saw you. Not as some tool to help us maintain and reclaim the legacy of the great sage or build a bastion of power for ourselves, but for who and what you truly are; My son. And that's when I decided to gamble everything on you, none of the other monkey tribes would have understood, with what your father did, it sent hundreds of thousands of years of careful planning into disarray, they were positively aching and frothing at the mouth to turn the entire four winds sect to rubble, and above all else to end the abomination that you are. A human with the great Sage's bloodline? That's just a disaster waiting to happen, humans have destroyed and ruined everything they have put their hands on. You couldn't be trusted with it, it was determined killing you and extracting your generation of the bloodline would be better while filtering out the human part. I couldn't let that happen."
She paused, cocking her head to the side as if she was listening to some secret hidden in the wind, but I couldn't exactly be sure. My mother has always been peculiar, always approached the world differently, and at first today i thought perhaps it was because I now knew she was a monkey demon, but honestly I think perhaps it's because even amongst demons, she was just different. She scoffed and then smiled as she turned back to me.
"I crowned you when you were six, and honestly I had no idea what would happen, no one since the great sage has worn the golden Headband. It was the only part of his tool to not have fallen Into the hands of demons, humans, infernals and celestials. So no one knew what would happen if you wore it, which is why as a mother I'm so sorry for making you grow as weak as you did, but I believe the end justifies the means as I can feel your capacity for QI….it is absolutely colossal and unnatural. Not even the infernals and celestials with their deep propensity for Qi have as much as you do, it's almost as if the crown had turned your body into some sort of natural treasure capable of storing Qi beyond what should be naturally capable for anything living.
And there has only be one person in all of existence that had enough Qi he could actually match the power of a true god, and that's the great sage equal to the heavens Sun Wukong. I see it clearly now, the propensity for mischief, the arrogance, the ability to be one track minded and the ability to take joy from other people's misfortune. Finding humor in everything and being fiercely caring for those you call your own, and do anything in your power to get what you want. Perhaps you're even more monkey than I thought, more monkey than the others of this generation who would prefer to put their heads in the dirt and twiddle their thumbs up their asses and stroke their tails. So as your mother and as a royal of the great bloodline, I acknowledge you my prince and look forward to the day you become king. But right now, tonight; I'll teach how to do something that would be important if you would want to survive the world you will be making for yourself."
I raised an eyebrow at her closing remark, and when it seemed she wasn't going to continue, or rather she wanted me to ask, I had no choice but to take the bait.
"And what is this important thing you want to teach me?" I asked her as the wind suddenly began to blow stronger, bringing with it a chill in the air.
"Theon…I'm going to teach you how to kill." And that's when the sword came flying for my neck.
this novel is a bit of slow grind, at least in the early stages. so guys just bear with me for a bit, I'm purposely updating slowly so that I can stockpile and keep ahead of the curve with at least 2 chapters if not three. but perhaps I can try a mass release during the weekend, thanks for reading.
