Charlotte was pulled back a couple of steps, avoiding the car that suddenly rushed towards her.
She looked back to see Lucas's worried face.
Before she could speak, he scolded her, "Charlotte, are you a child? Can't you see the red light? Do you have a death wish?"
Only then did Charlotte notice the red light on the other side of the road, embarrassed, she said, "I didn't see it just now."
Lucas stood there, not knowing whether it was nerves or something else, a thin layer of sweat formed on his forehead.
Charlotte asked, "How come you're here?"
Lucas opened his mouth, looked around as if trying to figure out how to explain.
"Were you following me?"
Seeing Charlotte's guarded expression, Lucas laughed, "Is that how you think of me?"
"What else? Coincidence?"
Charlotte looked at the desolate surroundings, thinking it unlikely.
"No," Lucas shook his head.
"I just left the hotel and saw Vanessa and Ella, they seemed quite worried about you, so I came to check on you."
