章 69: A stubborn man

**Abigail's POV**

"David," I rushed to his side only to see he was unconscious. "You stupid, stubborn man. Why did you do this to yourself? We had everything figured out. Everything was going to be ok, and now you went and got yourself killed." I cried over him.

Doc and Rhian reached us first, "What happened? How are you awake? What did David do?" Rhian rapidly questioned. Doc was beginning to examine him. 

"He looks to be suffering from the poison? I don't understand. It is as if the poison left Abigail and David absorbed it."

"How is that even possible?" Rhian asked him.

I looked at her with puffy, bloodshot eyes. "There was a voice; I heard it too. He wanted to take my place. He said he would rather die than let me suffer any longer. The voice asked if he was sure, and he didn't even hesitate. The next thing I knew, he collapsed, and I began to wake up. Rhian, why does it hurt so much to see him like this."
