The city's civil registry office, City M
Gretta, sat across from a young well-groomed man, who was bordered by a desk and a computer. While Chiko looks relaxed sitting next to her, playing with his cell phone with occasional swears coming from his thick lips.
"Damn it!"
"Ko! If you want to make noise, don't come here, I'm concentrating on looking for files with your girlfriend."
Choug!
Chiko suddenly choked on hearing that, in contrast to Gretta who immediately glared at him, conveying an unspoken protest for him.
"Huh! Why are you coughing like that, don't you-
"Noisy! Just do what is your job. Don't let it be impossible, only my identity should be easy," Chiko interrupted quickly, changing the subject when his friend started to suspect.
"Tsk, damn you!" the man cursed softly, then continued his work with his fingers dancing on his favorite keyboard.
"You're the damn thing," Chiko said, trying not to glance when he felt a sharp gaze from the side.
He felt like would die if he glanced at her, until he could only swallow his saliva and go back to playing his online game with a stiff face.
While the man in front of her was looking for her identity in the notes or Chiko who was sitting stiffly, Gretta herself was still looking intently at the man.
She didn't know that Chiko had confessed to being his lover, just to be able to take care of the identity that was still being checked.
Huft… well, maybe this is just a way to make my identity known quickly taken care of, Gretta thought with a small breath.
She slowly changed her sharp gaze, became normal and looked back at the male officer who frowned.
What is it? Why did he have such an expression, she continued inwardly.
The two of them sat for a long time in a room that fortunately had air conditioning, so that Gretta didn't have to feel the heat even though she was bored when she just sat there staring at the surface of the table, not daring to look around.
"It's been a long time, Bri! Did you see it?" Chiko asked suddenly, when he felt that his friend had taken too long to type something on the computer.
"That's really weird. Usually, just by typing the surname, hundreds of data will open. But, why doesn't this exist?" muttered the man—Bri or Brian who actually, asked.
"What do you mean?" Chiko asked again, this time not annoyed but confused and so did Gretta who looked just as confused.
"Nothing, not even relatives," Brian explained again.
"Is it really like that? Is there really no Waynee name, Samuel Waynee?" Gretta asked along with him.
She even looked at Brian in front of her in disbelief, shaking her head evasively and not accepting what she was hearing.
"Nothing, even though there's Waynee, but there's no Samuel in it. And then, the Waynee you said and I was looking for is in a different city."
Impossible….
Gretta felt that her way of finding Waynee like this would be getting more and more difficult. She became desperate, because the civil registry does not even store data.
Dad, how is this, Gretta thought glumly.
"Then what? Gretta couldn't lie claiming to be Waynee's daughter, could that be true, Gretta?" Chiko asked a little frustrated, then asked for confirmation with the woman who claimed to be his lover.
Gretta shook her head quickly, of course dismissing what Chiko had said to her.
"I'm really Samuel Waynee's daughter, I have a twin brother named Gray Waynee. My Mom…. My Mom…."
Gretta suddenly stuttered when she was about to say her mother's name. The reason is, if she mentions the name of her mother and family, her identity will also be found out.
"Your mother? Who is your mother?" Brian asked quickly, when he felt that it was a little difficult for Gretta to say what her biological mother's name was. "If you have your mother's name, maybe you'll meet him after that," he continued seductively.
Gretta looked nervously between Brian and Chiko who looked at hercuriously. Really, she wasn't ready for the two of them to know about her family, especially if Geana found out.
"My mother..."
Grip!
Gretta immediately turned to the side where now Chiko's hand was gripped quite tightly. She returned the serious gaze of the man with a neutral look of doubt, but unfortunately Chiko didn't give up.
"Gretta, you just tell me who your mother's family is. Don't worry, we'll keep it a secret. Isn't that right, Bri?" Chiko said reassuringly with Brian who was also brought along.
"Don't worry, it's my job," Brian said quickly.
Gretta thought about the request again and she finally gave a small nod. "Okay, but don't let anyone find out, okay?"
"Yeah, don't worry," they both replied in unison.
"My mother, Esmeriana Grinson."
"What? Grinson?"
Skip
Gretta and Chiko walked together after finishing taking care of their identity, although it wasn't really finished because Brian still had to find the truth about the family she called.
The two were both silent, neither speaking as each lost in thought. One is thinking about the identity that will eventually be discovered and the other is thinking about the origin of the woman who is not random.
But, what is the reason for leaving such a luxurious life and preferring a poor life like this?
Ah! Thinking about it gives me a sudden migraine, thought Chiko, someone who thought about the family origin of the woman beside him.
"Chiko."
"Yes, why?" Chiko said, almost startled when she suddenly called out. Even, he thought the young lady beside him would remain silent, until they reached their destination.
It was evening, with a tinge of orange shining on the earth. Even the street lights were already lit with a distinctive, quiet atmosphere. Especially in the narrow alley, which the two of them are currently passing.
"That is, until my identity is actually found, don't tell anyone. I beg you, I really hope that I'm not part of Grinson like what Brian said," added Gretta explaining. "I promise I will tell Gea, about who I really am."
Chiko fell silent hearing Gretta's explanation. He also hoped so, if the woman beside him was not part of the famous rich.
He had indeed heard that the Grinsons' granddaughter had a charming face, even though it was never published in the media. But he hoped it wasn't Gretta, so he wouldn't have to find it increasingly difficult to approach the strange woman, who had been stealing his attention in no time.
Too short, for 12 days of meetings and it's not routine.
"I don't have the right to tell anyone who you are, unless you invite yourself," Chiko said after a long silence. "And I'll also make sure that if the information about you is obtained quickly, Brian will be able to take care of it," he continued reassuringly.
Gretta nodded slightly hearing that, at least Chiko wouldn't tell them that was enough for her for now.
"Thank you, Chiko," Gretta muttered as she turned her head and gave a faint smile, looking sweet with slightly sparkling eyes.
Chiko was embarrassed when he saw it, he averted his gaze while rubbing the back of his neck to relieve nervousness.
"Yes, no problem."
"After this I can work and help Gea, to pay for the house."
"You want to work?"
