So today and yesterday was fun. Yesterday I started the hardest boss fight I have ever done, and the bosses name was Slave Knight Gael.
Gael is the final boss of the Dark Souls 3, 2nd DLC. "The Ringed City"
And this guy deserves that title, this man is an absolute beast. He set out on a journey to get the "Dark Soul" Basically the most powerful thing in this world, and the soul of the "Furtive Pygmy's" basically the first humans and the human lords. And on this journey, he went insane due to the fact that he figured out he had the Dark Soul, but the fact that it was inside of him.
So, after he went insane, he ate and consumed every Pygmy lord, along with their dark soul.
This boss has 3 stages, and 1 health bar.
The first stage is a beast-like stage where Gael is on all fours and jumping around and running at you, swinging a slab of metal barely fit to call a sword. In this stage he is weirdly fast, with his attacks being hard to read and very unnatural.
The second stage he regains his mind and gets a grim resolve to pound your asshole to New Mexico. And he stands on his two legs and actually starts swinging his sword. Now the fight slows down, but is deceptively harder, as he can combo attacks easier and use different things.
In this stage he gains 2 new types of attack; A boomerang like miracle that will come back at you ~3 seconds after launched, and a MACHINE GUN CROSSBOW that will shred your health if you aren't careful. But this part has an x factor, his cape. In this fight when he swings his sword, his cape will follow .5 seconds after, making it so you get punished for dodging early or too late. And his cape will also extend his sword range, along with that his cape deals half the damage of the sword.
And his third stage is the hardest, in this stage he starts off with an attack I deem the "Blood Burst" where he explodes with little skulls flying in all directions, and when 1 hits the ground, it summons a lightning bolt. That's another factor, lightning bolts will occasionally strike with a clear indicator on the ground where it will land. And along with this comes new, and even longer combos, where he will start gliding around the arena, teleporting, and even backflipping while firing his crossbow.
This is one of the best fights I have ever done, and every time I die, I'm not even mad since it's fun. When I die, I feel like I'm getting better at fighting him.
Studying his moves, watching for tells, when he grips the sword with both hands he'll do X, when he slams his sword in stage 2, he'll do a spin, in stage 3 this combo happens like this. Is only having 667AR but using his weakness better than using a buff and getting 737AR.
It's exhilarating, it's the first time I have STUDIED a move set. Literally watching videos frame by frame, watching the TV pixel by pixel. Dying but getting 5% more health off then the last time, getting him down to almost the last hit only to die.
It feels like I'm on a high, and when I finally beat him, I might just cry. I haven't beat him yet but once I do, I am going to salute him off for being one of the only boss fights I don't get mad over.
This is the epitome of series final DLC, and final ever boss created, this is what final bosses, no what every should be. An endurance fight that tests your patience and punishes greed, making you study the boss and making you think about your build. Forcing you into a situation you don't know how to handle, forcing you to fight tooth and tooth to win. Making you switch the normal for something new and to switch your armor, your weapons, your accessory's, your buffs, your weaknesses. Making you assess everything that makes the boss what it is!
THIS is what every boss should be like! This is the greatest boss of all time!
Seriously, this is what I believe in. Bosses shouldn't be easy, they should be hard, unless in a kid's game.
This boss just gives me a sense of pride whenever I get his health really low, making me feel like a king. Only 2 bosses have ever done that to me.
Soul of Cinder from Dark souls 3 and Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising Revengence.
I don't know how they made Gael this good and fun. But that's the rant for today, I didn't upload yesterday because the goddamn timers on this stupid app don't work when I want them too.
Anyways, Good morning, goodnight, good evening, or whatever the fuck your time zone is.
