The keys dangled as Maverick took a step, toward the basement with Lucien and his family behind him.

He took the key attached to his pocket, and use it to open the door. He entered and so did Lucien and Annabelle.

"This is the only place, I can ensure your safety while you think about what to do next, even though it is obvious what your next step is"

"What do you mean?" Lucien asked and glanced at him suspiciously.

"Simon.. you are going to kill him. That is the only way you can survive, or you will be killed by him"

"You know that and you letting him stay here. Lord Maverick Splauding, lady Gila's father. This also means you are going to become Simon's father-in-law in the future. Why are you doing this?"

"Future? Father-in-law?" Maverick chuckled.
