From the days that I'm sponsoring Abstract, I didn't bother to ask her if she can visit my brother because I don't want anyone to pity him due to his health condition so I made every excuse I can. Until I was shocked that Abstract went inside Storm's room in the hospital and waited for her to come out to see if she is the person I saw. I blinked a few times.
"Are you alright, Flood?" Windy asks.
"Hmm? Oh, yes, I am." I replied even though I'm not my usual self.
Storm greets us with a sweet smile while holding and hugging a sketch pad and pencil.
"Did something happen?" Windy asks mom.
"Dr. Rackie gave that to him." Mom replied.
"Brother, the girl I saw on your phone said that she'll teach me to draw." Storm said happily. "And she said she'll never have any difficulties because she's left-handed too!"
I smiled and nodded to him, I'm somewhat guilty. If only I'd asked her before maybe my brother is always happy just like this. I look at mom who's also happy. Who wouldn't be happy in this kind of scene? It's been years since we bear to see Storm lifeless.
"Windy, Dr. Rackie promised that she'll make me see the sea with my own eyes again once I'm alright." Storm happily shared.
I'm not used to Storm acting this way, he acts like a kid wherein he wasn't acting like this when we were younger. I mean, he's turning teen next year. I don't get it, what happened to my brother? I looked at mom who was currently observing my brother.
"Mom," I whispered but I knew she heard me. We went out while Storm continuously shared. "What does that doctor think?" I asked.
"Flood, listen..." she calmly said. "Your brother has a rare heart disease; it's not just his brain cancer that he's battling."
I was shocked by what I've heard. Instead of asking her about seeing the sea with Storm's own eyes... I left and looked for that Dr. Rackie so I can be sure if she was Abstract. I went straight to the information desk to ask where can I find Dr. Rackie so I can meet her or better asked them to call her so I can talk to her. I saw that she walked past me back so I told the nurse that it was okay already. I run after her.
"Ms. Wrightwood?" I asked to get her attention.
She turn around with a smile on her lips and I was a bit taken aback. This is the first time I saw her smile and I can say I won't ever forget that smile. When I was finally able to get back to my senses, she was the next one who got shocked. So cute!
"Atty. Casper." She said while covering her mouth from shock.
I grinned. Why did I just happen to realize now that this girl is so beautiful? Seems like an angel that the Lord sent from above even though I confessed my feelings for her… I came to remember what I want to ask her. "Can I talk to you and someone superior to you?" I asked her. I saw how the confusion registered on her face. "I need to know more information about Storm Casper and someone who can answer my question regarding you being her doctor?"
"Uh..." that's all she replied then she signed to follow her. She knocked on a door three times and then put her head in. "Can I come in?" she asked the person inside which made me drop my jaw open. I didn't expect that accent from her. Is she one of the casts of Harry Potter? Maybe one of the voice talents of Peppa pig? "Director, actually there's someone who also wants to talk to you, I mean Atty. Flood Casper wants to talk to you regarding our patient, Storm." She explained while her head was still in that position. She stood up properly and open the door.
We come in, I was a bit stunned when I saw the director of the hospital, who seems too young to be in the position of director. He gestured his right hand for me to sit down. "I just want to know what is happening in this hospital. I mean, I know this might be rude but I think you shouldn't have to make a newbie handle a case that is between life and death." I said straightforwardly.
He just nod while Miss shocking-accent was standing and calmly leaning on the door. The director was talking on the telephone then when he was finished talking on the line, the door suddenly opened. A few men wearing lab gowns come in.
"Mr. Casper, these are the people who are looking for your brother's health. They are the best of the best here. This is Lunar Nguyen who studied from overseas just to be a great radiologist, this is Dr. Air Rooke." I flinched when I heard the name of the doctor. "He's your brother's cardiologist. This is Dr. Radiance Wilton, who's Storm's neurologist."
"Dr. Red for short." The neurologist said.
"This is Dr. Dallience Sullen, Storm's orthopedic."
"Dr. Allie." He said who seems bored. Miss shocking-accent-girl bumped her elbow on him.
"I'm Director Art Wilton assure you that your brother is in good hands. Lastly, even if Dr. Rackie, I mean Dr. Abstract Wrightwood may be an intern here yet your brother will never be in danger in her care for we trust her for Storm's welfare. She's Storm's resident doctor. She may be new and maybe a general doctor in the meantime however we can guarantee, this hospital can guarantee that we gave the best people for your brother." I looked at them all I can't be sure enough from what I'm seeing right now except for the radiologist that my parents requested.
I came home from the hospital but still, I can't forget that smile. Her smile makes me lose my sanity. Why that smile is so beautiful?
"Hey! Are you out of your mind?" said Windy. "You're looking at your phone and smiling. You're creepy, bro."
I threw the throw pillow. "I'm not!"
"Oh, don't you ever deny it! You smile like that when you're in love, I know you!..." she teased. I shook my head. "You were like that when you saw your ex-girlfriend. What was her name again?" she thinks for a while. "Uh! Glimmer Lustrous!"
I threw the throw pillow again and stood from the couch. "Stop messing with me!"
