章 29: THROWDOWN THE GAUNTLET! GATHERING OF THE S-CLASS!

" AHHHHHH!" Natsu yelled as he woke up
" You're awake!" Happy cheered
" Hold up where'd laxus go? Actually, where did everyone go?" Natsu asked looking left and right for the others.
" Natsu!" If he got serious, he might be strong enough to pull it off. Makarov thought
" Gramps, do you know where everybody else ran off too?" Natsu asked
I'll have to put my faith in his raw talent. " Now listen up the festival is underway. Laxus is hiding somewhere in magnolia. FIND HIM AND BEAT HIM!" Makarov yelled
" ALRIGHHHHHHHT!" Natsu yelled in excitement " Just you wait la- Arhh!" Natsu yelled as Freeds barrier prevented him from leaving.
"EHHHHH!" Makarov, reedus and happy yelled
" What the heck?" Natsu asked as he tried to escape the barrier
" Why can't you get through? Obviously, you're not a stone statue, don't tell me you're over 80!" Makarov asked
" I don't think so." Natsu yelled before a status screen popped up
" Battle of fairy tail status report. What? It says Jet vs Droy vs Alzack. Is this some kind of joke?" Makarov yells
" I don't understand why those guys would be fighting against each other." Natsu said
" The winner is Alzack! Jet and Droy Kō'd!" Makarov announced
" What!?" Natsu asked in shock.
" Let's see how long you can endure this game of fairy eat fairy old geezer!" Laxus says
" STOP THIS STUPID GAME RIGHT NOW LAXUUUUUUUS!" Natsu roars
Suddenly the report screen appeared again much longer this time
" Max vs warren: Winner Warren! Fiester vs nab: Winner Nab! Laki defeats 4 others! Macao vs wakaba: In progress." Happy says reading the screen
" Those foolish children. What do they think they're doing?' makarov says
" They really don't have much of a choice. Those enchantments are hidden all over town so they're impossible to avoid. It's just like laxus said this is the battle of fairy tail." Happy says much to makarovs anger
" But why? it doesn't make sense!" Natsu asked angrily
"' Natsu." Happy said
" I wanna Fight too!" Natsu yelled trying to get through the wall
" Is That All!" Makarov and Happy yelled
" Oh man you suck. Go away invisible wall!" Natsu yelled before catching his breath. "
" Why do you want to fight your friends." Makarov asked while slapping natsu on his head.
" Cause it's a tournament to see who's the strongest." Natsu said
" This is not a tournament!" Makarov yelled " It's nothing but a trap. Laxus is playing you like a bunch of pawns. If we can't beat the thunder legion in time the girls are going to be smashed to pieces. I know that everyone is trying to keep that from happening, but they're going about it the wrong way. If we keep fighting amongst ourselves, then the girls are as good as finished. We can't let Laxus win."
" Come on gramps you don't seriously think he'd hurt them do you. I know he can he be a pain sometimes, but he's still one of us. This is obviously a bluff." Natsu said
" You think so?" makarov asks
" There's a fighting festival going on out there, why do I gotta be stuck in this dump?" Natsu asked annoyed
" Beats me, I can go through fine." Happy says showing off
" Does this mean I'm over 80 and no one ever told me? Cause I'd know if I was a stone statue right?" Natsu asks in a panic while holding his head
" And here I thought we knew each other natsu." Happy jokes
You still think of Laxus as part of the guild, even after all this you still believe he wouldn't harm his own members. Makarov thought.
" Time remaining 2 hours and 18 minutes. Participants remaining 42." Happy said as he read the screen
" That can't be! That means more than half the guild has wiped itself out in less than an hour!" Makarov said. " Evergreen vs elfman: Winner Evergreen! Elfman: Kō'd"
" I thought he'd have no problem beating her." Happy said
" Ahhh! Now it says gray's fighting bickslo. Why does he get to have all the fun?" Natsu asked
" It also says Freed is fighting against reedus. The thunder legion is really making their move." Happy said " Oh no they took out reedus!"
" I knew it. He never could have beat freed. That guy is good!" Natsu proclaimed
" I know he's cool and all, but you're cheering for the wrong side. Now we're not going to be able to get polyurcicas help." Happy yells
" We don't need it. Laxus is just bluffing about turning the girls to dust." Natsu says before a projection of laxus appears behind them.
" I'm just bluffing, am I? You sure about that?" Laxus asks
" where'd you come from?" Natsu asks
" It's a thought projection." Happy yells
" Natsu, what are you doing hold up in this junk are you scared?" Laxus asks
" I'm not scared I'm stuck." Natsu says
" What do you want?" Makarov asks
" How's it feel huh? You think of the guild members as your children, right? It must be tough watching your kiddies tear themselves apart. It's too bad Natsu and Erza can't join the game, cause you don't have anyone else who's strong enough to take on the thunder legion. You ready to throw in the towel?" Laxus asks
" No, it's not over yet. Don't forget that gray's still in the game and he's just as strong a wizard as natsu." happy yells
" He's as strong as me? No way man!" Natsu yells
" Sorry, but you're in denial." happy said
" Gray huh? You're going to put all of your hopes on that loser?" Laxus asks
" I wouldn't underestimate the boy's power if I were you."
However Not long afterwards Gray lost to bickslo thanks to one of freeds enchantments.
" One more down. Only 28 contenders remain. Hahahaha, and that chump was going to save ya?" Laxus asks
" You cheater I know you and your pals used some dirty trick to beat him." Happy yells
" Hahahaha. Alright, who's going to beat the thunder legion now old man?" Laxus asks
" Gajeel will!" Happy yells
" I don't think so, he's made it clear he doesn't want to play. Which doesn't surprise me. That guy couldn't care less what happens to the guild." Laxus says
" Ugh! What am I invisible?" Natsu asks
" You might as well be, if you can't get passed the barrier." Laxus says
" Enough. It isn't worth it, I surrender alright." Makarov says
" Wait a sec." Natsu says
" You've had your fun now stop this." Makarov says
" What's gotten into you? I thought you were the master of the almighty fairy tail guild? You can't just give up at the drop of a hat. But if you insist on quitting, then by all means hand the guild over to me and take an early retirement." Laxus says
" Why you gotta play dirty? Why don't you come here and face us? Huh!" Natsu yells
" I should have known; this was your plan all along, wasn't it?" Makarov asks
" You've only got an hour and a half until the statues crumble. If you really want to put an end to this, then announce your retirement to the whole town over the guild's loudspeaker. I want you to tell everyone you're relinquishing fairy tail over to me. What means more to you? Your children or your title. Choose carefully." Laxus says
" You're asking for it!" Natsu says as he attacks the projection. " If he wants to be master, he should have the guts to face me in person. How come he won't fight me?" Natsu asks
" It was never the title I valued." Makarov says
" Then you're just going to give up?"
" No, he maybe strong but he's not trustworthy. I would never leave him in charge. It takes more than just magical strength to run a guild. He has neither the conviction nor the heart." Makarov says
" We have to do something before the girls turn to dust. There has to be someone who can beat laxus and his pals." Happy says
Crunch crunch crunch. They all turn to see the noise is coming from gajeel who was eating the dishes.
" No way! You were here the entire time?" Natsu asks
" He's eating the dishes too!" Happy yells
" Gajeel, will you fight for the guild?" Makarov asks
" Might as well. I got a score to settle with that guy. Don't worry I'll handle him." Gajeel says as he approaches the door before, he too is stopped in his track.
"AHHHHHHHH!" Natsu, makarov, and happy yell
" Don't tell me you're over 80 too." Natsu yells
" Do I look 80 to you?" Gajeel yells
Suddenly the report screen comes back up announcing the victories of the thunder legion.
" Only 2 left in the guild?" Makarov yells
" You sure you're not faking being stuck in here? You trying to copy me?" Natsu yells
" In your dreams!" Gajeel yelled
" Now I'm hungry and it's all your fault jerk!" Natsu yells
" Stop blaming everything on me!" Gajeel yelled
" If you're not gonna fight at least get me some food."
" No way. You two are the only ones left!" Makarov yelled
" What about me master? I'm a member to, aren't I?" Happy said
There's nobody left who can take down Laxus. It's all over. Makarov thought.
" I've got no choice. Guess i'll bring erza back." Natsu said
" Huh!' Happy said
" Do WHAT!?" Makarov asked
" Ah this sucks! I thought I was finally going to have a chance to show her up." Natsu says
" Now hold on a second what are you about to do?" makarov asks natsu
" I'm gonna use my fire on her. You know to melt the stone off." Natsu says
" SAY WHAAAAT!" Makarov yells
" SHE'S NOT COVERED IN STONE SHE IS STONE, SO IT'S NOT GOING TO MELT OFF OF HER!" Happy yells
" Won't know until we try. Right guys." Natsu says as he lays erzas body down
" This is madness, you're going to roast her alive!" Makarov yells
" Ahaaa! It's toasty time." Natsu says as he holds his fire hands over erzas breasts.
" PLEASE BECAREFUL! Makarov yells
" No joke, watch where you put those fire hands bro." Gajeel says to natsu as a crack appears on erzas head.
" AHHHHHHHHHH!" Everyone yells after seeing the crack
" I didn't mean to break someone get me the glue. QUICK HAPPY GLUE!" Natsu yells
" DO we Have Glue?" Happy yells
" That's not going to work you idiot. We have to use your fire and my iron to weld her back together." Gajeel says
" ERZA NOOOOOOO!" Makarov yells in despair
" Ah! I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!" Natsu says as the cracks spread on Erzas body until she finally breaks free of the stone.
" I feel hot." Erza said. " It was you, wasn't it? Were you trying to cook me?" Erza said as she punched away both Gajeel and Natsu
" Erza's back in business guys." Happy yelled
" Thank goodness, but how was the spell broken?" makarov asked
" Honestly, I'm not quite sure, but if I had to guess I'd say it had something to do with my right eye." Erza said
" Ugh!" Makarov said as he came to the conclusion that erzas magic eye weakend the spell.
" Erza, do you know what's going on right now?" Happy asks
" I think so, even though I was stone, I was still able to hear most of what was said." Erza said
[music! Jakku no tsuchi! Laxus vs mystogan ost]
" All right! It's time to strike back." makarov says
" 3"
" Look there's 3!" Happy says
" The runes have already added me to the fray. That's impressive it updates automatically, but there's only 3 left." Erza says
" Actually, it's just you. Natsu and gajeel are stuck here because of the enchantment." happy says

"5"
" Wait now it says there's 5." happy says
" Huh!?" Makarov says
" It went up," Gajeel states
" Who could it be?" Natsu asks
" The girls are still stone, so it can't be any of them." Makarov says
" Hmhm!" Erza laughs as a wide grin appears across, her face. " Aren't you guys forgetting about something? A few members of ours who are frequently out of town." Erza said
" Huh! Hold on you don't mean them," Natsu said
" Huh!" Happy gasped
" AND THEY'RE BACK JUST WHEN WE NEED THEM THE MOST!" Makarov yelled
" They've always been ones to make a grand appearance. It looks like the real battle is about to begin." Erza says grinning
" Someone wanna fill me in overhear?" Gajeel asks
[music intensifies] As two men appear storming through the streets of magnolia.
" We're talking about two men who also lay claim to the strongest wizard in fairy tail!
" Mystogan!"
And
" Marco the Phoenix!" Erza says
" So, Erza has recovered, and now Marco and Mystogan are joining us. Counting me That's 4 of fairy tails elites coming head-to-head. You can't have a festival without a proper main event. This should be fun!" Laxus says in excitement.

Thomas_Hodge Woo! Another chapter done, and by far my favorite chapter to write. I've been planning this one for a while. The scene where Mystogan shows up to fight has always been one of my favorite hype moments. So I had to include the music from that scene in this chapter absolutely had to.
