But the innkeeper didn't say anything and instead tilted her head in the direction of the vampire king beside her. Oh, so he decided to make himself visible now. He sure knows how to complicate her life. 

Dahlia understood the woman's fear, she was with a vampire and they were scared of living with one for the night under one roof. What if he murdered them in their sleep?

Although the vampires offered peace and protection, none of the people trusted them. They were not used to their presence and it would require more than a gesture of goodwill to gain their trust.
