I woke up to the sound of the others setting up everything they brought back the previous day from the city. Jim succeeded in getting a truck, which they used to load as much as possible. It was more than enough to get everything from the convenience store, since it was pretty small, along with anything they could grab from the pharmacy. Obviously, we didn't need every single drug from there, as we couldn't use most of it, but they still took them anyway, in the faint hope that we might meet a doctor some day, and he would know about them.
I helped them unpack, as they were getting ready to make a second trip to the hardware store, to get several things of use to the camp. We weren't only looking for weapons the other day, we also took note of everything available to us there, and while it wasn't a very big store, it had more than enough to serve us well, and we won't be complaining about free equipment.
Their targets this time would be solar panels to set up some lights for better vision at night as we were practically blind. Camping equipment was there as well, from tents to grills and stoves. They would be getting both the electrical and wood based ones, just in case. Batteries, cables and tools, obviously. I did ask Andrea to grab me a big fence cutter, for personal reasons. She just shrugged and said I owed her one.
For the next week, a routine settled for me. I did the same thing almost every day, with very few deviations, mostly things I did with Amy, from reading books, to even writing a little Harry Potter fanfiction to pass the time. It was quite fun.
In the morning I would workout in hopes of increasing my stats and upgrading the [Sprint] skill. And although I didn't succeed in the latter, I did succeed in increasing my stats.

Man, this is the weirdest shit I've ever seen. 5 endurance increased my SP by 30, but 1 suddenly increased by 20… I haven't a clue how the fuck my stats are calculated, or what they represent exactly… It's a bit frustrating, but getting angry over something I had no control over was counter productive.
I have spent most of my time training Knife Throwing, and I've had a lot of success in that department. While I've only focused on short range (up to 10 meters), I was confident the skill would be of some use to me now. I always practiced away from camp, so I didn't have to explain why I suddenly had twenty throwing knives.
Jim was very helpful when I asked him how to hot-wire vehicles, which he gladly showed me, mostly because I told him I knew how to drive, and that it could be useful to me later. He also taught me how to extract gas from any car as a bonus, in case I ever ran out. He was a nice guy.
On the seventh day, as we were eating dinner, Shane began a new discussion about the needs of the camp. Speaking of which, we didn't have a single attack all the time we were here, and these people were taking security way too lightly. They were under the assumption that the walkers would stay in the city for the foreseeable future, because that's where most of the noise was, since they were huddled up together. I thought differently, obviously, but arguing about it won't do much good.
"We can't keep sitting here and hope for the best." Shane began. "I know we have food, we have equipment to make us comfortable, the view is amazing, but we can't take these things for granted. We will eventually run out of food and we don't have much gas anymore. We gotta keep restocking. We hadn't made any runs recently, and I doubt any of us was thinking of making one. But it's better to have things and not need them, than need them and not have them." Shane was never one for giving speeches, but he was doing a decent job.
