Ian Leighton looked down at Gail Wright's small hand and gently stroked the back of her hand, softly speaking, "Father, I took the diamonds from the tie clip you left me and made them into a diamond ring to propose to Gail, because it's the only thing you left for me... it's precious beyond measure; consider it... a gift for your daughter-in-law when we first meet..."
Gail's lips parted slightly, she looked down at the ring, and her heart raced.
Could it really... be something Ian's father left behind?
How could Ian bring himself to take the diamonds off such a precious item and make a ring for her?
Gail's fingers tightened, and the ring seemed to become even heavier...
Gail remained silent, listening to Ian babble on about something with his father.
On the way back, Gail said to Ian, "There's something... I've done behind your back!"
Ian turned to look at Gail, "What is it?"
