Three hours later, Leona opened her eyes. To her surprise, she was in an unfamiliar room once more.
The walls were covered with royal blue paint, and the floor was covered with expensive red carpet. Her bed was as soft as Ignatius’ bed, and a split-type air conditioner hung at the side, cooling the room to a comfortable temperature.
Still feeling light-headed, Leona remained in bed and touched her head. However, something blocked her bruise and was squishy to the touch. Upon closer examination, she realized that it was a blue ice pack that had lost its coldness. The writer simply assumed that Ivan had placed it on her. In better condition, Leona sighed in relief. Her kidnapper must have decided to spare her.
Slowly, Leona rose from the bed. Looking around, she noticed that there was no window in the room. However, there was a white-painted single door located at the corner.
With small careful steps, Leona approached the door. She turned the knob and saw a small squeaky clean bathroom with black marble tiles. The citrus smell of air freshener gel wafted in the air.
Pausing at the entrance, Leona wondered if there was a secret path there. Although risky, this could be her new opportunity!
No.
Despite the lightheadedness, Leona shook her head and told herself it wasn’t worth it. If Ignatius found out and caught her again, there was no guarantee she would not turn into shark food.
Lost in her thoughts and mental debate, Leona felt as if her heart would jump out of her chest when the bedroom door suddenly opened behind her.
“I’m just going to pee, I promise!” she yelled as she turned to the person who opened the door.
Ignatius raised his brow.
“Why the hell are you shouting?”
The carrot head became very nervous and faked a smile.
“I was just surprised.”
Ignatius watched Leona as she avoided his gaze before dashing inside the bathroom like a rabbit escaping into its burrow to escape the wolf. The mafia boss knew that there were no escape routes for her this time. He made sure of it.
He already planned on having gingeromance628 live with him in the hideout.
Although he would not tell her that he was her number one fan, he would provide her with everything she needed to be productive - a fast internet connection, her favorite food, a comfortable bed and even her laptop. Anything that she wanted, he would give except for freedom.
“Boss! I brought it!”
Hearing that it was finally here, Ignatius stepped out and closed the door. He would check on what his bunny was up to later.
The pink-haired capo looked tired. However, he was carrying the things Ignatius told him to bring.
“You’re finally here.”
Nodding, Chrisvan handed Ignatius a black laptop bag and a plastic bag with a stapled-on receipt.
“I bought a new keyboard and a wireless mouse after testing that they worked.”
“Good,” Ignatius nodded with approval at the initiative. “How about the other thing I told you to do?”
“I coordinated with Markstein from District Eleven. He gave me all the evidence and transaction logs of the loan sharks going after Miss Sandersmith and her brother.”
Ignatius grinned. Like Chrisvan, Markstein was also a capo. He was good at delivering quick results.
“I gave copies of all the evidence to my father. The police arrested those loan sharks a couple of minutes ago.”
“Great. Tell Chief Fedora to make sure those shitheads rot in prison,” a smirk appeared on Ignatius’ face. Shame on those goons for making his favorite web novel author suffer!
Without any further orders, Chrisvan bowed slightly and excused himself. He walked briskly away, afraid to receive another order. All the pink-haired capo wanted now was sleep.
As he left, Chrisvan felt confused by his boss’ actions. He was usually good at guessing what Ignatius wanted. However, Ignatius’ creative mind can be hard to understand at times. Maybe he was hatching a grand plan for the Teivel famiglia. The ginger head captive must have provided crucial information, so the big boss was simply rewarding her.
While the confusing transaction between the mafia boss and capo happened outside, Leona locked herself inside the bathroom, lost in her thoughts. Unable to find a solution, Leona decided to flush the toilet for fun. She stared at the tornado that formed in the draining water. Should she flush herself out of here like poop?
Honestly, it would be nice to get out of here. There was nothing more Leona hated than being unproductive. What if her stupid brother did not return for more than a year? Would it mean gingeromance628 would remain on hiatus until he returned?
No way!
Leona worked hard to build her reputation. Writing was her passion, and she felt like it was the best job. How could she let go of something she enjoyed doing and help pay her debts?
Leona deduced that the mafia boss wanted her alive based on how they treated her when she was sick. He must be planning something related to what Leonard was doing. Leona decided to try her ridiculously risky idea.
She had to try to make a dangerous deal with the big boss. Would he allow her to use her laptop and their wifi if she worked for them without wages?
Leona mentally prepared herself to do any job, from cleaning the dirty toilets, cooking lunch for a hundred men, or even shoe shining. There were no helpers in the area. Surely they could use some of her expertise around!
Mustering up her courage, Leona exited the bathroom with balled fists.
“Sir, can I speak with you-”
She paused mid-sentence when Ignatius turned sideways towards her. There was a white modern-designed study table beside him. Atop it was an old laptop that appeared extremely familiar.
Leona’s eyes widened in recognition. That worn-out round smiley sticker on the back of the laptop belonged to her!
Like a moth drawn towards a flame, Leona forgot all about her risky proposal and danger. Ignatius watched her dawdle towards her precious item as if she was hypnotized. The writer could hardly believe what was in front of her and reached her hands out to confirm it when she was stopped.
“Hold it right there,” the mafia boss blocked her with an arm.
Leona stopped in her tracks and returned to reality nervously.
“Y-yes?”
“I want to strike a deal with you, Miss Writer.”
Leona gaped in shock. How did he find out so quickly?! When she saw Ignatius smirk, she felt her heart sinking. All that planning she did in the bathroom was flushed out of existence as he crushed her hopes.
Whatever the shady deal would be, it would favor him. Leona was sure of it from that handsome smirk Ignatius was sporting.
