When Erevan and Molly returned to Michigan, life went back to its usual pattern quickly. The only thing that had changed was the fact that they both had rings on their fingers and he didn't have to worry about accomplishing his goal since it was already done.

On the days she substitute taught, he didn't get too bored because there was so much information about this world still to consume, particularly in the form of fiction. He could understand why she loved books so much.

When she wasn't, they spent most of their time together though he did still have to hide in his office pretending to work for at least a few hours a day. That was inconvenient.

Erevan would rather be with his mistress but he had to maintain the illusion that he had a job or she would question where his money came from knowing that he wasn't using hers. It was a bit of a bother but he had accepted it was something he had to do in order to play human.
