章 50: 50 adaptation quest 1/?
Just as i was about to jump into action i decided that i would train and try out different things so i went into deep thinking to remember different novels, games, animes, fan fics, etc. to see if i could recreate some techniques.
First i looked at a small group of the monsters fighting so i created a weak lightning ball and tried to infuse it with aura of death.
As the deadly energy enters the ball of lightning it turns a blackish hue for but a moment that was almost imperceptible even to me before i started losing my grip over the mana inside the ball and it exploded in my face.
Thankfully i only used about 50 points of mana so it wasn't anything big but it still had a hint of death energy which means i should be able to power up my spells with it if i get a hang of this technique.
Next i tried to incorporate my death aura into my sword and...
[Minor malicious sword ego has been annihilated].
And for some reason the sword started sucking in the death aura, not much of the aura but it still took some so i observed the sword.
[melanchonite sword of feebleness: this sword is made from melanchonite, people hit get cursed, the feeble curse will decrease the str stat by 60 (120 when stacked). The curse will stay for 3 hours (30hrs stacked). The curse can stack 10 times (time vise) and 2 times (strength vise). Self repairing (If the sword is at least 40% whole it will regenerate). This sword has some resistance to death energy and can slightly conduct death energy. super rare+]
'hmm since the ego was destroyed i think the sword wanted to replace the blank space it left behind with something so it took the closest thing it could which would be death energy' i thought as i sent some of my death aura into it which caused it to have a black flame around the sword.
I swing the sword and use my sword energy while i am still pumping some death aura into the sword to create an energy slash which has a dark hue to it, it cuts into the body of one abomination which started screaming due to the pain.
I smiled and continued trying out all kinds of different ideas but after a while i just switched to training my skills while killing monsters.
And for 3 days straight i fought and trained my jobs and skills that were lacking behind, the most entertaining skill to train were the critical eyes or how i like to call the dollar tree eyes of death perception.
When i activated that skill everything seemed to turn grey or bland but i still could discern colours normally but when i looked carefully at anything i could see a few small spots with a new "colour", it was too weird to describe but if i had to compare it to something it would be a similar experience to someone who was colour blind that they could only see black and white suddenly gaining the ability to see all colours.
After killing the last monster in my sight i sat down and checked my stats and levels my main class is at 25 while my sub class is at 40 which means i got a new system function which was [Skill tree evolution (you can see how your skills can evolve and see what you need to do to get a secret skill evolution)]
So i decided to check my adaptation and the only thing it showed me was that i am supposed to complete the quest for it and i didn't bother with other skills for now since i wanted to upgrade my adaptation.
I went to my stats again and i used most of my points on vitality which left me with 15 free points and 499 vitality, why didn't i raise it to 500? Well i plan on raising it to 500 after completing my adaptation quest in case i can't gain a quest to upgrade it again due to the last quest not being complete.
I teleported into the house in undertale and asked the system how long the adaptation quest would be.
[In the real world only an hour or two might pass]
'alright what sort of things will i be doing during this quest?'
[Your real body will experience a lot of damage (not enough to kill you), your soul will be put under a lot of stress which will feel like you will die but you won't be able to feel that because of your mind that will be inside an illusion that will look like reality to you]
'okay should i make any preparations beforehand?'
[Only make it so that you won't be attacked for the next hour]

For the next minute everything seemed to become blurry and painful but i became extremely sleepy and fell asleep as a cocoon grew around my body...
I opened my eyes and saw that i was inside a hospital room.
'what' i thought as i looked around.
'no not possible? What happened?' i thought to myself as i tried to recollect my memories and the last thing i remember is that i was about to complete my mana circuitry.
I started breathing heavier as i called out 'system...' 'SYSTEM...' "SYSTEM, STATUS, SKILLS, PERKS ANYTHING FOR FUCK'S SAKE" i yelled out but nothing appeared so i froze for a bit before i heard a nurse come inside the room and she said something into a speaker and then started talking to me.
"Sir are you alright please calm down the doctor will be with you shortly" the nurse said as i stayed quite just thinking until an older doctor came in and started talking.
"Hello mr connor right now you are inside a hospital, do you remember what happened to you?"
"I was hit by a truck" i told the doctor to which he nodded and added "yes you have also been in a coma for 17 years"
'i'll make all your organs fly out of your mouth for making me doubt reality' i thought to myself but then i realised i could not feel my telekinesis nor any skill, perk or mana for that matter.
'damn it' i thought as i looked shocked due to my inability to use anything but the doctor misinterpreted it and said "yes it must be quite shocking to hear this type of information".
I calmed down after a second and said "i am calm now so what will happen next".
"Do you have any close friends that we could call and inform since we found no one alive from your direct family" the doctor asked as he took out a pen and a clipboard to write down on.
"Jacob fisher his number is ######" i replied.
The doctor nodded and walked away while the nurse took out the different tubes inside my body and then she asked me if i wanted anything (no not in that way) and told her that i am fine.
I started thinking and going tghourgh my memories which seem to be great but not perfect as it was back while i had the system now i remembered around 90% of all things i had done.
I had a few things religiously memorized to the point that even if i lost the perfect memory perk i would still remember it and what were those things?
Well quite a few actually but the most important things i memorised down to my soul was mana manipulation (inner and outer) which didn't have any use inside a regular world with no mana or magic, the next thing was some simple potions some of which only needed ingredients from a regular world and i also made sure those recipes wouldn't harm a regular person but i would have to test that later when i am with my best friend from this life.
Well i say best but to him i am probably just a really good friend but that's besides the point i will need to see if he would believe me if i told him about some of my experiences.
After half an hour of waiting the doctor came in and told me "we have called your friend and he agreed that he would take you in and let you live with him and he will come to pick you up in 3 days at 8:30 am, when we will be done with your testing.
I nodded and asked when the first test will be and he told me it would be in a few hours.
3 days later Saturday 8am
The tests i went through were some memory test, brain tests and some movement tests and i also found out they were giving me some typo of steroids while i was in a coma which somewhat prevented muscle atrophy but i still had a harder time walking so i was given a cane.
(A.n: heads up. i won't talk about extreme details like connor going to get a new picture for his id)
One hour ago i was given my my stuff i had with me when the truck hit me aka 100$, wallet with my info and credit card that has 20k$ and my phone and charger both of which miraculously survived without any damage.
8:30am
I saw my friend jacob walk into the room and i greeted him with a genuine smile on my face "sup my man, how you been for the last 17 years?".
"Hey man, I've been doing alright for myself but how do you feel?" Jacob asked somewhat concerned.
"Besides feeling weak i am doing alright as well" i said as i stood up with a bit of struggle and said "welp not sure about you but i am dying to get out of this hospital since i didn't set a step outside of here since 2023 how about we catch up and you tell me about some new thing 2023 didn't have that 2040 has".
"Sure i live 20 minutes from here by car" jacob told me as we went to his car and we chatted about stuff well mostly about him and what happened in the 17 years i was out in a coma for.
Some things that happened in-between 2023 and 2040 were that elon musk created full dive vr, a zombie like virus happened (walking dead type) but was basically eradicated instantly, rocket ships had progressed quite a lot meaning we had about 4000 people on mars, hologram technology became quite common and there were some cybernetics cyberpunk style sadly they didn't cause people to go cyber psycho and they were mostly cyber arms, legs and some less complicated organs like a kidney or liver.
(A.n: i have little to no knowledge on the stuff i am saying lol)
Soon we arrived at the apartment where jacob lived and when we got inside i was thankful that the elevator worked because it would be hard walking up to the 7th floor with my weak muscles and the stamina of an 20yr old gamer whose only exercise was walking to the fridge and back.
When we entered his part of the apartment he showed me the guest room where i would be sleeping for the foreseeable future and he asked me "wanna catch up on some films or anime?".
"Sure but i will need to order something first it will just take like 20 mins max" i told him.
"Okay if ama be in the living room on my phone until then, if you need something just call me" jacob said while he went to the living room.
I went and plugged my phone into a charger and turned it on to order some ingredient's to make a few minor potions to see if the recipes work in this world but they should have the intended effect, also added some glass vials, tools and some personal items like clothing and stuff.
It cost me only about 700$ and only 12 minutes of my time and it should arrive in 3 days with express shipping so i quickly went and checked some of my favourite animes such as overlord which now was finished with season 6.
I also went and checked some novels, mangas and fanfics, i also googled things along the lines of "most useful items in fiction" and i made a list of things to do like "google information on the unnatural" and "google best uses for abilities i no longer posses".
I stood up with the help of my cane and walked to the living room and i told him that the stuff i ordered will arrive in 3 days so he agreed to drive me there and help me unpack it to his house.
After that we just binged some anime and ordered some food for lunch and for the rest of the day we just watched anime and tv while chatting.
The next day i decided to train and by that i mean mostly doing leg exercises and push up... Well i say push ups but i only did like 3 half push ups before i had to take a small break, i talked with jacob and he told me that he will let me live here for 2 months without paying.
And then Tuesday came and we drove to get my stuff, on the way back i told jacob "by the way when we are unpacking that stuff some of it might seem weird but i will explain it after we unpack it is that alright, oh and that explanation will sound whacky as hell and almost unbelievable".
"Okay?" He said with a curious look and we soon arrived at his house and started unpacking the stuff once we got all the boxes to the room.
