章 156: Showdown IV
The scene was frozen, droplets of water suspended in time, individual faces stagnated on an expression of tension and focus.....
*swish*..... *swish*
A small wooden boat, big enough for only the man currently paddling inside, was making its way toward the epicenter of the frozen-in-time battle. The man had an uncharacteristically sad face as he made his way through the battlefield.
*kadunk*
The sound of a wooden paddle being thrown back into the wooden boat filled the atmosphere as Jack Sparrow looked at the scene, a few arm-lengths away from him...
A shocked woman who he knew to be Chastain, her eyes filled with regret and understanding, was standing on the surface of the water.....or, at least, she would have been standing on the water.
The picture before Jack was something else....her lower body was engulfed by a creature straight out of a seaman's nightmare. Her shoulders were slumped in defeat and it was obvious that she knew death was eminate. Jack could only concur as he had a close-up look at the beast, and the explosive devices covering the lizard's body.
*sigh*
"If only this little stopwatch of mine allowed me to interfere with death...." Jack whispered melancholically, as his newest friend will be leaving him like all the others.
"To stop time and observe, or to actually interfere with the flow of time are very different things Mr. Sparrow...the price for the latter is more than you can afford I'm afraid..." a spritely voice spoke throughout the frozen scene, startling Jack Sparrow as this has never happened while using the stopwatch...Jack turned around to see a well-put-together fellow with a half smile walking towards him.
The man and the blue-colored box thing behind him seemingly appeared out of nowhere..."well who are you then? and how can you be moving after I've activated my trusty stopwatch?"
The suit-wearing man's smile widened as he finally arrived beside Jack, who along with him turned to look at the death scene of Chastain Grey.
"Well, I'm The Doctor...and let's just say that Time Lords don't usually bother to stay still, even if time itself is trying to force them to comply..."
Jack was nothing if not a man that could roll with whatever came his way, so he simply shrugged while continuing to look at the frozen scene with this "Doctor" beside him.
The silence spread on like this for a good ten minutes....eventually, the ever-active pirate couldn't keep his mouth shut for long.
"Doctor who?....." he asked the man, wondering what this guy's actual name was....the answer he received wasn't to his liking though.
".....yes, that's right."
Jack simply stared at him flabbergasted, wondering how there could be a man more unfathomable and eccentric than him....."what a fine answer, I think I'll steal it next time someone asks for my name...."
The Doctor only smiled...."but there's not many who don't know your name in the Sea of Thieves, but I don't mind. However, it may not work the same for you I'm afraid.....being that your name is Jack Sparrow and all...."
The two bantered on like that for a while, an act that soothed each of their hearts as neither wanted to see this bloody scene continue, death wasn't something either of them liked.

After speaking for a while, silence spread once more before Jack turned to his new friend and asked...."so Doctor, may I ask why time is still frozen? My watch was never capable of maintaining this for so Lon-----ahhh, Time Lord, it's in the name....silly me."
Doctor Who chuckled slightly before waiting for Jack's next question, as he could see inquiry written on the pirate's face.
"...since you ARE a "Time Lord", I'm assuming you know what happens after this scene plays out....do I have a chance of winning? of obtaining the grail so that I can bring this lovely wench back to life in repayment for such a grand time?..."
Jack knew the answer after seeing the combat ability of these monsters, but he just wanted to make sure his uncanny ability to always come out on top wasn't going to surprise even him this time.
"I'm afraid not friend...." The Doctor answered sadly, the only reason he even showed himself to Jack Sparrow was that the pirate will die soon, and his memories will be wiped out before returning to the SOT world.
"...Doctor, your eyes are so old...." after digesting The Doctor's words, Jack attempted to lighten the mood.
"Hah, well I'm nine hundred and ten years old so I suppose they should carry a little weight no?..."
"AHH! Now I understand.....I felt bad for you when I first saw you, all that get up and you still look like sh]t. Knowing your age, you get a pass for being a little hard on the eyes...." the confirmation of his death didn't seem to bother Jack Sparrow, it made him happier actually, facing death being something so familiar to him that it brings comfort.
"HahahHAHAHA..." Doctor Who only laughed at that statement, he couldn't stop for a while as Jack simply grinned at the Time Lord.
*sigh*
"I haven't laughed like that in a while Jack, thank you...say, do you want to continue the grail war and see it through? Or do you want me to simply take you back home with my ship?... I've already got permission from my boss!!..."
Jack's eyes lit up at the prospect and immediately accepted...."ship? I'm in, no reason to grace these w@nkers with my presence if my summoner dearest is heading out already, those gods always come back anyways, at least that's what she told me..."
So, just like that, two new friends turned and walked towards the blue telephone booth while laughing like old pals.....one will continue his work for the creator, while the other will forget all about this adventure, returning to the Sea of Thieves to take up his mantle as a pirate king once again...and everyone who knew of his participation in the Holy Grail War will only remember the day when they almost caught, Captian Jack Sparrow.

When the telephone booth disappeared, the localized dimensional lock placed around this area released, and time once again started to move...
*CHOMP*
