Chloe sounded so impatient and Nancy smiled awkwardly.
Realizing that she went a little far, Chloe froze for a moment, "Sorry, I feel... "
Nancy interrupted her at once. "Don't worry. I didn't take it personally." Then she looked at Daniel, hoping that he would appreciate her good manners.
But Daniel was staring at Chloe, worried.
Nancy balled her fists tightly in anger.
They went directly to the Field's company. As Karl saw Daniel, he was relieved obviously. "I'm sorry to trouble you, Mr. Bruce."
Daniel waved his hand, "Let's go check the machine you mentioned earlier."
With one look, Chloe recognized the machine at once which exclusively belonged to the Bruce Group and hadn't got available in the market. How could Karl have it? There was only one explanation. Daniel kindly offered his help.
Seeing Daniel come over, the operating staff stepped aside. After checking for a moment, Daniel said there was something wrong with the parameter. It would go back to normal once the parameter was corrected.
"This machine hasn't been brought to the market. I believe you will take cautious measures to keep confidential, right, Mr. Field?"
Everyone knew that Daniel helped the Field only for the sake of Chloe. So he offered this exclusive machine to get them through the crisis.
He had also deleted all news relevant to Lisa's photos. Now he even came here himself to check the machine.
Nancy stood silently behind them, looking at Daniel and pondering.
Karl was even more shocked. He never thought that Daniel would help him. So hearing Daniel's question, he nodded constantly.
"Mr. Bruce, please don't worry. I can never thank you enough for your help recently." Karl was getting a bit emotional, rubbing his eyes, "I promise that I will spare no efforts to keep the confidentiality. If anything is leaked, I shall take all responsibility."
"You don't have to thank me," Daniel turned to Chloe, "You should thank her."
"Ah! I remember!" Chloe blurted out, "Daniel, the parameter should be 0.7 instead of 0.3."
Everyone looked at Chloe in silence. This was supposed to be confidential and how did she know?
Daniel gave her a meaningful look. While Chloe stammered, explaining hurriedly, "I... I just accidentally saw the design... in your study..."
"Not a big deal. Since Chloe has realized her mistake, we should let it go. After all, her good memory actually helped Daniel. Right, Chloe?"
Nancy came over and stood between Chloe and Daniel as if she worried Daniel would scold Chloe.
Nancy seemed to intend to protect Chloe, but Chloe felt Nancy was blaming her for peeping on the design.
But Daniel didn't say anything but turned to Karl, "Mr. Field, let's go inside. We need to talk."
"What to talk about?" Chloe asked confusedly.
Mr. Field looked at Chloe with a grateful smile, "Thanks to you, Chloe, Mr. Bruce wants to cooperate with us on a technology project! That's all I can tell you right now."
Then he hinted his secretary to take Nancy and Chloe to the guest room for a moment.
Nancy frowned at the coffee the secretary served and pushed it away in disgust.
While Chloe shrugged and picked up the coffee on the table, taking a small sip.
"Chloe, too much coffee is not good for your skin. You might put it down," Nancy said kindly.
Chloe raised her eyebrow in surprise, "Really? Well, you might as well tell Daniel about it. His house is becoming a cafe."
Daniel liked collecting coffee beans of various flavors all over the world. He was busy with his work and often asked Helen to grind coffee beans for him.
Chloe knew that Daniel would never quit coffee.
But Nancy shook her head and smiled as she recalled Daniel was working while drinking the coffee. "I did. But he just loves it. Maybe I can make coffee for him one day."
"Making coffee for him? He could do it himself."
"That's different. You don't understand." Nancy didn't want to explain. But when she fell in love with someone, she wanted to take care of him. Making coffee was quite a romantic option.
Well, Chloe seemed to understand it.
So she deliberately asked, "Nancy, do you think it's right for me to cancel our engagement party? Everyone was mad at my decision. Especially my mom. She has been so cold to me since then."
The next second, Nancy grabbed Chloe's hands and hold them tightly.
"Chloe, you did the right thing! Do whatever you think is right and don't let others change your mind. Besides, you are too young to get married. You will meet many outstanding men in the future. You can also focus on your career first. Anyway, don't rush to get married. That's supposed to be your greatest decision."
"But Nancy, I doubt anyone can compare to Daniel. I have also loved him for many years. I canceled the engagement party because he has been aloof to me. I don't want to force him to marry me."
Nancy was in a trance for a moment. Then she answered firmly, "Chloe, you have made your decision, and don't doubt it. You should stick to it and move on. Besides, Daniel knows what he wants! If he didn't want to cancel the party, how could he let you do it so easily?"
Chloe nodded as if she agreed. She lowered her head and sighed, "I know you are right. So I decide to move on as well."
"Good." Nancy smiled in relief and added seriously, "Chloe, you should leave him. You certainly deserve someone who loves you. Moving on is a wise decision."
"Thank you. I feel better now." Chloe answered, seeming to be comforted by Nancy.
But in fact, she just wanted to applaud Nancy for her convincing words and good acting.
If she didn't know Nancy, she would totally believe Nancy was looking out for her!
