“I don’t blame you.” I nuzzle my nose into the crook of his neck, hooking my arm in his, and lacing our fingers together.
“So why are we sitting here? And what’s with the old-fashioned note telling me where to find you? Why not text me like a normal person?”
“Because you’re not glued to your phone like the rest of us and it could take you hours to even realize you have a text. But I knew you’d definitely find my note if I put it on the fridge.”
Before heading out, I’d scribbled a few words on an old receipt: Meet me in my favorite spot.
We’ve been here together enough times for him to know where I meant. I haven’t told him whyI like this place, though.
“This is where I realized I was lost last year.”
“Oh?”
“I recognized that.” I point to the tree that still hasn’t fallen all the way to the ground since last year. “So I set off in that direction, hoping I’d find my way back to the car.”
“Instead, you found me.”
