“Do you know if he wants to be there or not?” She could tell if there was skin contact. Maybe Elijah had gone on a road trip with friends. He was sure he didn’t tell Elora everything going on in his life.
She shook her head. “He’s overwhelmed and scared.”
Jaecar didn’t show any emotion. “And you don’t think there’s any reason for him to go out of state?” If they stayed on the highway, they would get out of the state.
“Eli’s been hiding here for years; he’d never leave willingly.”
Hiding?“Who’s he hiding from?”
Elora’s eyes fell shut, and he cursed. “Elora.” He shook her. “Who’s he hiding from?”
“His ex.” Her head dropped. There would be no more answers to be had. He lifted her up and slung her over his shoulder as he headed for the door. They had to get on the road. He stopped and walked back into the bedroom, grabbing the socks. Elora would have to do it again. There was no way of knowing where Elijah was heading.
