“Oh, my, God…Jason Chidworth! I have not seen you socially in forever!” Sophie practically shouted, running toward Jason as fast as she could in stilettos in a back yard.

Jason turned and braced for what he knew was coming as he watched Gene make a beeline for the opposite side of the yard. In typical Sophie style, or at least the one she reserved for Jason, Sophie planted a big lipsticky kiss on his neck, reached her arms completely around him, and squeezed him like a sumo wrestler might. Jason was sure that there were lap dancers who moved over people less than Sophie did when she hugged him, but he smiled. She was a client, and for all intents and purposes, she was harmless.

“Oh, Jason, I heard that you and Howard were back together,” Sophie said. “You were so happy.”

“Yes, we were pretty happy together,” Jason said.
