Judith rose and gave Aiden a tight hug, wiping away her tears as discreetly as she could. He nodded wordlessly to let her know that he had understood the gesture.

“Thank you so much.”

“Thank you too, Judith. You’re one of the few people who stood by my side over the years. I appreciate you and everything that you have done for me. Happy Valentine’s Day.”

“Happy Valentine’s Day to you too, Aiden. Thanks again.”

Aiden then returned to his office. He had tons of paperwork to finish before the end of the day. He was still waiting for the finance department to correct their estimates on the project. He hoped they wouldsubmit those numbers to him with at least an hour to spare. He needed to check them out and make sure that they were accurate. He couldn’t afford another mistake. One time had been bad enough.
