They sat on the bed with the velvet sheets. Nick picked up a cushion and put it in his lap so he could rest his arms on it. It felt very nice on his bare skin and he imagined what it would be like to lie on a pile of them while naked.
Victor swallowed nervously. “You wanted to talk?”
Nick nodded. He pulled the list he had made at work out of his pocket, then folded it in half so only the “Why I’m Upset” column was visible. “I had a list of concerns, but I want to work through them. You make me happy, and this—” Nick gestured to the rest of the room, “—doesn’t change that. I still get giddy when your name pops up on my phone, I still spend the day wishing I was with you, still want to be there to comfort you, even though you probably needed comfort because of me.”
“It’s okay. I worried you would react like that, so it’s not like it was unexpected.”
