“Everything else?” Could this mean he’d been involved with Jeanette Van Orden’s death as well? “Do he or either of the other two have scratch marks, or did any of them have a chunk of flesh missing from their anatomy?”

“I don’t think so. All three of them were wearing hospital gowns, and I didn’t see any bandages on their arms.”

“Dr. Paget is on duty, correct?”

“She is.”

“Okay, I’ll want you to go down to Medical and talk to her about it. Now, did Sleeping Beauty have anything else to add?”

“Only that this was supposed to be a cushy job taking care of a batty old woman. Those were his words, sir, and I believe he was referring to his employer. As soon as he realized what he’d said, he clammed up. Other than that, nothing.”
