Bianca entered the room carrying a tray holding huge chicken pot pies with puff pastry tops.

“I made something bland because Julio can’t handle anything too spicy or rich right now.” Bianca put a bed tray over Julio’s knees.

Julio lifted his head and focused on Bianca. “Don’t believe a word she says. Her bland is anyone else’s best effort. I hope I stay long enough to be able to eat her real food. It will be glorious.”

Bianca sent him a secret smile. “That’s why I made you an apple pie because you’re such a good boy.” She left the room.

“I love her, but she talks like she’s a hundred and ninety-two and I’m only five.” Julio rolled his eyes.

“You’ll get that a lot around here,” Sean said enigmatically.

“Well eat, Julio, we’re waiting for you.” Ian prodded him, holding his fork in anticipation.

“See that, Ian’s being polite, our self-proclaimed blue-collar boy is getting manners.” Sean jabbed him.
