Wails of a woman were heard on the bay of the city. It was obviously painful for Elia to part with her newborn son. But, I simply had to do what was necessary.
Aegon was going to be a ward of the Warden of the North and no one had a say in that matter.
Elia was made to renounce the name of Targaryen and so was her daughter. Rhaenys was declared to be a Martell and her claim to the throne was snubbed. Doran and Oberyn were given explicit warning on what could happen if they tried to play their political games.
Robert and Jon had begun to consolidate their control on the throne. The former had gotten knee to his balls twice more before he stopped making advances towards Lyanna.
The Northern army was gearing up to leave as the political landscape of Westeros began to adapt under a new rule. All the while that was happening, I was on my way to Dragonstone to confront Rhaella Targaryen and her loyal retainers.
I trusted Lyanna to keep things under control while I was away.
Dragonstone was a castle on an islandin the Blackwater Bay. The sea was turbulent and a storm seemed to be brewing on the horizon. I used my stats and gear to the fullest and rowed fast on my small sailboat. The winds were in my favor and I reached the castle in record time.
All wasn't according to my plan. I was originally going to threaten and kill my way through the guards and capture the Targaryens. But, upon reaching the shore of the island, I saw a ship sailing away to the east, hoisting a Targaryen flag on the mast.
A woman was standing on the quarterdeck, he silvery hair flying wildly from the speedy winds and a child looking over the railing stood next to her.
'She's bonkers if she thinks she'll survive the fucking storm. She's in her second trimester, me thinks.'
I wasn't going to row after her to try and save her from death. I was brave, some would even call me crazy, but, even I wasn't going to face a storm head on.
The sea grew violent and the waves crashed hard against the hull of the ship. I quickly found higher ground and climbed up, abandoning my boat as I could always steal another.
All I could do was watch as the water began to fill the ship. I could hear the panicked screams of the crew as they desperately tried to keep the ship afloat.
Sadly, human effort and will was insignificant against the forces of the nature. The waves toppled the ship and the sea welcomed the passengers into its deadly embrace.
The storm raged for hours and the shipwreck could be seen on the island's shore. Slowly, bodies began to pile on the beach.
'You fucking imbecile.' I thought as I looked at the pale corpse of Rhaella Targaryen and young Viserys Targaryen who was tied to her back with a rope. Whether she tried to escape from fear for the lives of her son and her unborn child, or, from the madness of her family, I could only guess.
'Nope... Nope nope nope nope nope. I'm not letting this weigh upon my mind. Their deaths are her fault, not mine. Nope. Nada. She was a crazy, abused, pranoid and grief-stricken old lady.'
I collected all the corpses and left them to dry as I camped out for the night. The storm had settled and there was peace in the sea once again.
On the following morning, I piled all the corpses, except of the two Targaryens, and burned them using some wildfire.
I went ahead to explore the castle and as I had expected, it was completely devoid of human life. Rhaella had taken each and every single person inhabiting the castle to their deaths.
There were no dragon eggs or huge amounts of hidden gold, nor was there a hidden stash of Valyrian steel weapons. Life never worked that way. I did mine some dragonglass for myself... A few quintals of it.
I went to the shipward and most of the ships were intact while the storm had toppled the smaller ones. With my high level of craftsmanship, it was an easy task to put together a functional sailboat.
With everything set, I rowed back to King's Landing with the dead Targaryens on the boat. They were proof for the realm that Targaryen rule had ended.
It took me three days to reach the city and Lyanna was already there to greet me. She smiled upon seeing me, but, it turned into a frown when she saw the dead Targaryens.
"What happened?"
I signaled my men to carry the corpses as I replied, "Come on, let's go to the throne room. I prefer to tell the tale once and not over and over again."
She nodded and followed, but, the frown on her face remained. I could tell what she was thinking and said, "I didn't kill them."
Lyanna nodded again and this time, her frown eased away.
Ned Stark's face grew cold as he laid his eyes on the corpses. He immediately said with a growl, "Explain this, Curran!"
Instead of answering, I merely gestured him to wait for everyone else.
When all the parties had finally arrived, I told them everything that had transpired. Robert had the sense to not celebrate their deaths and everyone mourned the loss. They were innocents who died a pointless death.
It was a solemn atmosphere for the rest of the day which Lyanna and I spent in training her left arm for sword play. The trial by combat of all the prisoners was in three days.
My path after that was set.
I was going to pay a vist to the remaining Lannisters at the Casterly Rock.
