Chapter 29 - Meeting Xu Ling

It took Mo Xie another two days to fully stabilize his advancement in his cultivation method.

By the time he left, Xuan Zi was sitting in a nearby tree drinking wine from his gourd while holding a chicken leg in his other hand.

"Brat, you finally decided to leave! Do you know how long I've been waiting for you?" Xuan Zi pretended to be annoyed. Mo Xie recognized him with just a look, but since they had never met he pretended not to know him.

"Sorry for making you wait. May I know the name of this elder?" Mo Xie bowed slightly in respect and asked.

"Just call me Elder Xuan." Xuan Zi smiled and said, "You brat, the commotion you made here was pretty big. I noticed that there are some formations installed that isolated most of the commotion. Even though I was the one who left you a recommendation for the academy, it never crossed my mind that you'd be a bigger freak than I thought."

Mo Xie was surprised to learn that it was Xian Zi who left him the letter of recommendation, but when he thought his advance had alerted some powerful figures he couldn't help but be wary. "Elder Xuan…"

Xuan Zi understood what he was worried about and said, "Don't worry about it. What happened here will be kept secret by the academy. It will be a way to protect you against threats from outside. People who felt the commotion were already warned not to interfere in this matter."

Mo Xie sighed in relief. Since the academy valued talent, she wouldn't make any moves against him, but if the information got out, the problem would become huge. Shrek may be the best academy on the continent, but it still has some powerful enemies that wouldn't support its existence.

Xuan Zi then started talking to him enthusiastically. "You have two martial souls, a mind type body martial soul and a martial soul with the ultimate fire and ice element. Their lineage even made my martial soul shudder with fear. Care to explain what happened?" Xuan Zi was very curious to know about Mo Xie's martial soul.

Xuan Zi nodded in understanding. He also noticed that Mo Xie didn't want to talk too much about his martial souls, so he didn't delve into it any further.

"It's a good thing you used this technique at the academy. If you were outside it could bring some dangers to you." Xuan Zi commented before continuing: "You must have already consolidated your spiritual power at Rank 40, right?"

"Yes! I will start to prepare to leave the academy and look for my fourth spiritual ring soon." Mo Xie replied.

Xuan Zi nodded before asking, "Need me to help you find a suitable spirit beast for you?" This suggestion was made by Mu En to Xuan Zi. However, it would all depend on Mo Xie's will.

Mo Xie shook his head. "It is not necessary. Last time I went to Star Dou Forest I found a spirit beast that suits me, but I hadn't reached Rank 40 at the time."

Mo Xie began storing various clothes, food, arrays, and Spirit Tools in his storage that would help with the trip. It took him a whole day to prepare before saying goodbye to Xiao Hei and leaving.

Mo Xie had already arranged accommodation for Xiao Hei in the inner courtyard with Yan Shaoze's approval. Xiao Hei has grown a lot during his time at the academy. He was now over 1 meter and his cultivation was approaching a 1,000-year-old spiritual beast. The speed of his growth was frightening compared to other spirit beasts.

After leaving Shrek City and traveling a few kilometers away, Mo Xie equipped a Spirit Tool shaped like a pair of wings and flew in the sky. This pair of wings was a fourth-class Spirit Tool that he himself manufactured during his study in the Spirit Tools Department.

Normally, flying type spirit tools like Mo Xie's wings would be at least fifth class and their consumption would be very high with a lower performance. Especially considering that the academy's knowledge of spirit tools and the three empires was much worse than that of the Sun and Moon Empire.

Therefore, Mo Xie could fly a full 9 hours before the bottles and his spiritual power ran out.

Of course, Mo Xie has not yet announced this technology to the spirit tools department. It was a very advanced technology that could raise a lot of suspicion. No one would believe that a 12-year-old brat could successfully research these projects that even eighth class Soul Engineers had failed to complete.

The speed of his flight was extremely fast. It didn't take more than 4 hours for Mo Xie to reach the outskirts of Star Dou Forest. The academy was very close to the forest, but students were forced to take a different path to go to the forest because of fear of creating a wave of spiritual beasts.

Mo Xie landed and stored his wings. He recovered for a while before heading north into the forest. According to the information in his mind, Mo Xie was supposed to find a waterfall north of his position. The waterfall was near a valley in the inner area of the forest and there were some arrays that only he could sense with his bloodline.

To avoid trouble, Mo Xie called his spirit rings and activated his illusion ability. Mo Xie noticed that his rings seemed to have gotten stronger after strengthening his bloodline. His first ring now glowed a dark purple color with some black patterns on it and his black rings got even brighter.

Mo Xie's figure became invisible and he began to run through the forest, hiding his breath and presence. Unless there is a very strong spiritual beast or someone with very keen senses, it would be impossible for Mo Xie to be discovered.

It took ten full days for Mo Xie to find the right place. When Mo Xie reached the waterfall, he could feel some arrays that resonated with his bloodline in a cave behind the waterfall.

He calmly crossed the barrier and felt the elements of space stir. A bright light blinded him for a moment and when his eyes adjusted, he found himself in an entirely different place.

He appeared to be in a forest with a large ice blue lake in the middle that stretched for a few miles. In the middle of this lake, there was a 100 meter island with several common flowers on it. Mo Xie could sense several barriers around the lake that prevented the beasts that inhabit the forest from getting closer.

A few auras in this forest made the hair on Mo Xie's body stand up, as they were so powerful.

Suddenly, the lake water churned and began to rise as Mo Xie approached. He saw a 20 meter tall silver wolf emerge from the lake and float in the water. What attracted Mo Xie the most were this wolf's eyes, which glowed in twelve different colors, giving the silver wolf an ethereal aura.

Mo Xie could feel all 12 elements bowing to this wolf. Even his control over the elements became useless in front of him, making cold sweat run down his spine.

Mo Xie was quite sure that this silver wolf was not just a 100,000-year-old spirit beast. However, he could feel a connection that came from his bloodline from this wolf.

"Little Brother, you finally came to meet me." The Wolf spoke in a nostalgic tone.

As calm as Mo Xie might normally be, his heart was racing at the moment. The aura the wolf released was almost choking him.

The wolf seemed to notice this and withdrew his aura. "Sorry, after so much time alone, I forgot my aura could hurt you with your current power." He said in an apologetic tone.

Feeling the aura that was suffocating him disappear, Mo Xie took a deep breath and calmed down after a while.

Seeing Mo Xie calming down, the Silver Wolf began to speak. "Let me introduce myself first. My name is Xu Ling and as you may already know, I am here to help you at the request of our ancestor. You can call me Big Brother Ling."

Mo Xie nodded and bowed slightly before answering. "My name is Mo Xie. Nice to meet you Big Brother Ling!"

Xu Ling nodded his head satisfied before asking, "Could you show me your marks?"

Mo Xie understood what he meant and removed his shirt, showing off his lean, muscular body. On his right arm, his sun and moon marks began to glow and, similarly, a sun-shaped mark appeared on Xu Ling's forehead. Mo Xie felt the connection in their bloodlines grow stronger while Xu Ling was lost in thought.

"After millions of years of waiting, our ancestor's heir finally appeared…" Xu Ling muttered. His eyes sparkled with clear emotions of happiness, nostalgia and melancholy.

Coming out of his stupor, Xu Ling blew out a sigh and looked at Mo Xie gently.

"When the Ancestor contacted me and said he had finally found an heir, I was skeptical at first, but it seems my decision to help you wasn't in vain." Xu Ling said.

"I also had trouble accepting the fact that I am the heir of one of the primordial beings in the universe." Mo Xie said with a wry smile. Even after all these years, his situation was still a little unreal, but he gradually came to terms with it.

Xu Ling chuckled a little, but he soon became serious again.

"I've already studied some of the laws of the world you're in, so you should be pretty familiar with what's going to happen." Xu Ling said and continued to explain, "I will become your first spirit ring for your Mystic Heavenly Wolf martial soul, and I will use my origin and lineage to strengthen yours."

"However, by the standards of this world, I am a 1,000,000-year-old spiritual beast and my origin is too strong for you to fully absorb it, so I will place several seals so that you can release them as you become more powerful. In the end I will become an intelligent spiritual ring, with my soul inhabiting your spiritual sea."

Mo Xie was shocked to learn that Xu Ling was a 1,000,000-year-old spiritual beast. He thought he would be the same age or slightly older than Di Tian, but that was beyond Mo Xie's expectations.

Mo Xie nodded and asked, "What should I do?"

"I will first help you merge with my spiritual bone first. After that I will merge my spiritual ring with you." Xu Ling explained and took Mo Xie to the island in the middle of the lake.

"Let's start!" Mo Xie said and sat cross-legged calmly.
