It's been fifteen minutes, and none of them have come out of the restroom.

The restless curiosity gnaws at me. I decide to approach a young woman stepping out of the ladies' room. She's wearing a gown, her makeup fresh, but there's something about her that makes her seem older. Maybe it's her demeanor. To play it safe, I politely call out, "Excuse me, miss."

She stops and rolls her eyes, looking at me like I've just told the worst joke in the world. "Look, boy, I've had enough pick-up lines for the week."

Boy? Who the hell is she calling boy? I'm hardly a kid, and 'excuse me, miss' doesn't exactly scream flirtation. Unless she's had some kind of eye cancer impairing her judgment, she's wildly mistaken.
