At the time Mikail went to his room to monologue.
*sigh*
Edward released a sigh of relief while they were watching their son go up to his room to do whatever he did up there. Arya leaned against him and looked over at him.
"What are you sighing about dear?" Arya asked her husband despite roughly knowing why he did it. However, she could be wrong and it was a good conversation starter anyway.
Edward tilted his head, looked her in the eyes, and smiled a bit before he replied to her question.
"Now that this is about to be settled I can finally worry less about him. Thank Arceus, Mew, Giratina, Palkia, and Dialga for his decision to join an aura academy, particularly Aaron (Aura) Academy. He should be safe at the center of the Guardian Order's influence no matter how much brilliance Mikail is willing to show off."
Arya could see that a weight had been lifted from him now that the situation was practically confirmed. They had decided early on to leave the choice on his future education to Mikail, at least as long as he did not decide on something ridiculous.
Mikail had matured faster than usual, and shown himself to be more mature than other children his age. Even when compared to those children talented in an element that quickened the process like aura or psionic energy that they heard about, Mikail was still a bit faster.
At least from what they knew, which admittedly was not too much. Still, they attributed it to his talent in both which in their opinion stacked the acceleration caused by each.
In their mind, Mikail came as a gift to them. A miracle that was conceived against all odds. So, him being special was something they could accept without any problem. Besides all parents wanted their children to be great, and their child had the potential to become one of the greatest.
"I'm happy he chose to go there as well. No one would be willing to try anything while he is staying there. The aura users, in general, are more protective of their pupils compared to the more pragmatic members of the Psychic Council."
Arya agreed and Edward nodded. It was true, while both sides took care of their members, the Aura Guardians were more open about it. They were all about taking care of the future pillars of humanity and they were willing to show they meant business.
"Yeah, no one dares to mess with the kids before they graduate. Not after those old monsters destroyed a whole criminal organization for daring to attack one of their students to steal one of the Pokemon they handed out to all students."
Edward said and Arya snorted when she heard what he said.
"Good riddance! I was happy when I heard about that one. It was a great reminder for everyone that there are still "monsters" out there looking out for the best interest of humanity. Some people had started to forget/ignore that."
She declared in a slightly hostile tone. She really did not like the criminals all that much, especially the ones targeting young children/trainers. Still, after she said that she turned a bit pensive.
"How much do you think Mika is going to show? You know how much he likes to hide his true prowess. I'm sure he's hiding some from even us, and I'm partly blaming you for that one." Araya asked her husband who had decided to wait for whatever she was going to say when he had seen her become pensive.
*chuckle*
"I'm proud about that one. He took the advice and guidance I gave him and turned it into his (life) motto. That behavior of his is what allowed me to keep mostly calm despite the worries some of his actions and talent incited in me." Edward chuckled a bit before he said that in a proud tone.
*snort*
"Of course, you would be proud of that. Just answer my question you dolt., I'm curious about your opinion on that." Arya lightly slapped his shoulder while prompting him to answer her.
"My son is a genius, and if he behaves as I taught him to then he will show only as much as needed in the beginning while getting a picture of the situation on-site. After that, depending on what he learned he'll most likely start showing more. I still don't think he'll show everything, but he'll show most of it."
Edward explained in a smug tone that screamed "I can see through it all". Arya was amused by his behavior and raised one of her eyebrows at his smug tone. He just smiled at her innocently when he saw her raised eyebrow.
"What about your family?" She asked a bit hesitantly since she knew he did not particularly like that topic, and as she expected Edward quickly lost his smile when he heard her question.
"What family? The only family I have comprises of you and my son." He replied in a slightly deeper tone.
She released a mental sigh, but this had to be discussed now, so she had to persist even if both of them did not like it.
"You know what I mean honey. Are we going to tell Mikail about them? They could try to approach him once they learn about his talent. At least I think they would do so." Arya said and Edward's face turned a bit stormy before he slumped a bit.
*haaaaaaa*
He exhaled before he put his arm around her shoulder.
"You're right. Trying to use/recruit him, that's something definitely those people would do. These are the same bastards that let my parents die and ignored me until I proved to be a really talented trainer." Edward reluctantly said in a tad angry tone.
Arya patted his hand to show her support and to prove she was there for him. During their journey after Edward had begun to become a bit known as a talented trainer due to the good progress and decent/good talent of his Pokemon, they were approached by members sent by his so-called "family".
Apparently, his father had been a member of one of the better medium-sized clans/families. However, due to having no real talent as a trainer or with any form of energy, he decided to leave once his parents died on a mission or something.
Edward's father had to sever any relation with them if he wanted to leave, which he did. So, when the tide happened they did not send any help to defend him and after he died they ignored Edward who had been orphaned.
Once Edward showed his talent they appeared and tried to take him in, but Edward refused because he knew they just wanted to use him. They gave zero sh*t about him before and he was certain he would not have a good future with them.
Furthermore, they decided to interfere in their relationship, trying to break them up. So, he refused them repeatedly in a semi-polite manner, since he did not want to make enemies. He just didn't want to have anything to do with them.
The "family" accepted his refusal, but to make sure that they lost interest in him, Edward and Arya returned to their hometown to lay low for a while. Edward said he could get stronger there as well and it took longer than it would have otherwise, but he did become an Expert-class trainer.
Once he did he was pretty sure of any actions the "family" could directly take against him since he was under the purview of both the military and the alliance as a semi-active member.
He wasn't worried about indirect ones, because those would not be effective against someone of his strength. At least not the ones they could use without standing out. Anyway, that was the reason he did not like them.
Arya's pats were helping him keep calm. He indirectly stopped her by interlocking their hands, before he released another sigh.
*sigh*
"Still, you're right I should tell Mikail about them. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't fall for their fake "nice" approach, but I wouldn't want him to be surprised by them. Being aware of them would prevent any bad actions done out of missing context."
Arya gave him a quick kiss to cheer him up because she knew how unpleasant that talk was going to be for him.
"Sooo, with that out of the way. What are we going to do with Mika's accommodations? I don't think having him stay at the dorms would be a good idea. It would restrict him from letting out/spending time with most of his Pokemon." Arya asked in a curious tone.
"You're right. The big guys at the school will almost certainly notice his Pokemon, but since he has a genuine bond with them, they won't care about their number. On the contrary, I think they would be impressed instead, but they would most likely warn him to not show them off to avoid jealousy and the like."
Edward agreed with her, while also addressing the situation of Mikail's many Pokemon partners. They were certain that Mikail had more Pokemon than he had shown them, but they knew he did it because he was trying not to shock them too much.
The stunts he pulled with turning up with one Pokemon after another were already incredible enough. Moreover, he even brought them some new partners as well. Not to forget his prodigious ability to roughly guess their potential.
Yeah, they were pretty sure he had more but they didn't really mind since they believed he was taking good care of those Pokemon and not harming them so they chose to ignore it.
"I know that. I want to know what kind of place we'll be getting him. With the money from the sales, we put aside for him and his education we could rent a wide range of places for him to stay. I personally think we should look for larger places so that he can live with ALL his Pokemon."
Arya expanded on what she meant, which made Edward nod in agreement.
"True. Yeah, I think that would be for the best. That way we'll also have a ready place to stay when we decide to visit him and want to stay over."
*giggle*
"Him having to clean that place daily to keep it tidy will be a happy surprise for him as well when he notices it." She said with mirth in her tone, and Edward had to chuckle as well at that thought.
"Well, then I guess we agree to limit our search to larger places?" He asked and Arya was the one who nodded this time.
"I think it would be better if we went to Rota to search for a place in person," Arya suggested.
"Yeah. Best we finish that before his birthday as well. I think I'll take off next week. We'll book a hotel/motel room for a week and stay in Rota to look for his place. We could also take a look at his future school while we are there." Edward expanded on her suggestion.
"That's a fantastic idea. We'll get to make sure everything is alright and we get to see new things as well. We've never been to Rota after all." Arya responded enthusiastically.
"You know, I mulled over our last discussion quite a bit. The one about what we will do once Mikail will move to whatever academy he chose. He'll be there for 3 years at least and only visit on holidays, so I think it would be best if we resume our journey during that time."
Edward shared with her and Arya threw a surprised look at him.
"Yep, we could travel around while he is at the academy and relax at home during his holidays. All we would have to do is return home once every month or two to make sure everything is fine and to do some cleaning. That and also visiting Mikail every month or two at the place we'll be looking for him," Edward added.
"Really?" Arya asked. She had not expected him to come to that decision. She may have considered the idea a bit, but she was not sure if he would really do so. Apparently, he had decided to do it after all.
"Really! We can't get any stronger staying at home, we've hit the limit. Even the stuff Mikail keeps giving our Pokemon is not enough anymore, neither is the stuff we can currently buy. As a result, our progress had slowed down a lot.
Honestly, I know our son is going to surpass us. He is a genius after all, but I would like that to happen after he is 20 at least, so we'll have to get stronger for that. I know you're with me on that one, otherwise, you wouldn't have kicked up your training by a notch after he started gaining on you."
Edward clarified the reason for his decision to her and she fully agreed with him.
"Umu, my baby should be able to look up to for as long as possible, so I agree. We'll visit Rota next week and after that, we'll have roughly a month to settle everything since he'll start his schooling at that time." She acknowledged.
They went over some bit more things like him having to arrange the week he was going to take off and having to prepare his resignation. Once they were roughly done for now Arya went up to call Mikail down to tell him about some of the decisions they had made.
