Moments before, Dante secretly put a sedation drug into Jacob's drink that made the latter collapse on their way back from the headquarters.

He was going to bring Jacob to the agreed place after Eldrin promised him he would perform a surgery to extract the essence of Supreme Power directly from Jacob's heart.
