Gloria halted herself and threw her gaze to the side, staring at a room not far from where they currently were. Her somber eyes glistened with tears as she recalled the unfortunate night that took the lives of Jacob's little children. 

"After your father married Cynthia Miller..." She swallowed the guilt that had started to fill her chest, then continued after heaving a shaky breath, "He was head over heels with her that he was even willing to give up his first son to be raised by the Miller Family just to fulfill the promise he made to her."

"I was against it because I knew it would be dangerous to let the future legitimate heir to live outside of the main family. I tried to make your father understand that the Miller Family might take advantage of his son to rebel against him but he refused to listen to me." Gloria added.
