Lorimer grabbed her arms in a bruising hold as his claw-like nails pierced her skin. She could feel her blood oozing down her arm as he shook her so hard her teeth knocked together. But she clamped her mouth down and forced her mind to concentrate on the water that was still rising. Lorimer’s eyes were black, depthless ovals that threatened to drown her. His teeth had changed to the deadly fangs once more that salivated with the need to bite her, suck her life away.

"You will stop this!" Lorimer demanded. "None of you will be allowed to escape."

"It's too late," Neivayka sneered back. "I will never bend to your will. As soon as I send you back into the hole that you crawled out of, I will rescue my mother and be done with your reign of terror. This is my land, and you are not welcome."
