章 16: Chapter 16: Exchange of information
Lin Fan took the elevator up to the fifth floor and headed to the same karaoke store as before.
Just like last time, there was the same group who was arguing with the manager, but this time, it wasn't Yan Luo who had to pull Lin Fan along.
Lin Fan took the initiative to head over and he waved his hand at them before saying, "Hey, sorry I'm late."
Both Yan Luo and the manager fell silent when they saw this, with both of them also revealing confused looks.
Lin Fan came up and took Yan Luo by the shoulder as he said, "Hey buddy, I'm here. Now we have all six people that we need for the room, right?"
Yan Luo immediately understood what Lin Fan was talking about and gave a laugh, "Ha, ha, it really took you long enough to show up."
Then he turned to the manager and said, "Now that our friend is here, I think we have enough people for the room we want now, don't we?"
The manager looked at Lin Fan with a complicated look before saying with a sigh, "Sir, please follow me to your room."
He led them into the back just like last time and they soon arrived at the same room, VIP room 1.
After they were all seated and the manager left, Yan Luo turned to Lin Fan and was about to speak, but Lin Fan cut him off first.
Lin Fan looked at him and said, "I do need a favour from you, so you can repay me now."
Yan Luo was surprised since Lin Fan had guessed what he was about to say.
Lin Fan then said, "Young master Yan, I know that your Yasha Group has some conflict with the Nova Group, so I know what you're here to do. I want your help in reaching the penthouse of this building."
As soon as Lin Fan said this, the rest of the people in the room all looked at him with narrowed eyes as they all pulled out the guns they had been hiding.
But even with all these guns pointed at him, Lin Fan calmly looked at Yan Luo and said, "I know that you must suspect me, but I can tell you now that the Nova Group is planning a raid on the Yasha Group's warehouse where the boss will be tonight."
When these people heard this, all of them knitted their brows.
This was the information that they had come looking for since their sources had told them that the Nova Group was planning something. They never thought that someone would take the initiative to give them this information.
Could this be a trap by the Nova Group?
Lin Fan immediately said, "It's not a trap, I just need your help to reach the penthouse and then that'll be it. You don't have to come with me and you're free to do what you want. That piece of information is the fee for your help, along with what I just did earlier."
Lin Fan was right, if it was a trap, why wouldn't he be trying to lead them to the penthouse with him?
They would be able to escape now that they had been alerted, so this would seem like a useless trap. That was unless there was another motive.
However, before they could do a thing, Yan Luo broke out in laughter again.
He kept laughing as he said, "This brother, you really are something special. You lay all your cards out on the table before you even start to negotiate, you make it too obvious that this is your first time doing this."
Lin Fan knitted his brows and he said, "Who says that I've put down all my cards?"
Yan Luo continued to laugh as he said, "You give it away right away with how you talk, the way you move when you talk, and your expressions. There's nothing dishonest about you, so it's clear that this is your first time."
Lin Fan gave a shrug as he said, "Maybe it is, who knows? The important thing is are you going to help me?"
Yan Luo stopped laughing at this and took a deep look at Lin Fan. After a few minutes, he finally said, "Alright, I'll help you, but you have to give me something first."
His face turned serious the moment he said this, "One of our friends was caught and is being held here, tell me where he is."
Lin Fan said without any hesitation, "On the fifth floor."
Yan Luo revealed a smile when he heard this, "Alright, I trust you."
He turned to the scantily dressed girl and said, "Give him the keycard for the elevator."
The girl looked at him for a bit with a doubtful look, but seeing that he didn't say anything else, she had no choice but to give that card to Lin Fan.
Lin Fan was confused as he asked, "What is this for?"
Yan Luo said with a smile, "Didn't you hear what I just said? It's for the elevator. Just tap that card on the bottom of the panel and it'll take you to the thirteenth floor on its own, but you should be careful because there are quite a few guards up there. As for how many and what's their layout, I can't tell you that, but at least I know that there's no one right by the elevator so you should have time to plan your move."
Lin Fan looked down at the keycard in the hand before giving a nod.
When he was about to leave, Yan Luo called out, "I don't know what your goals are, but I should warn you not to look down on Liu Yan. He's someone who was able to create a gang that was able to control a large part of the Third Ring, he's definitely not someone you can look down on. Especially his physical power…"
Lin Fan couldn't help asking, "What do you mean by that?"
Yan Luo said, "He's much stronger than normal people, he's as strong as ten men his size. That's how he was able to make so many different gangs fall under him to create the current Nova Group."
Lin Fan nodded before saying, "But I'm not planning on fighting him to begin with."
Yan Luo gave a shrug, "That still doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful of this. Knowing your enemy is half the battle."
Lin Fan nodded once again before saying, "Since you gave me a warning, I'll give you one too. Don't go to the third floor for some food after this, it might be your last meal."
Without looking back, Lin Fan walked out of the room.
Yan Luo looked at the door even after he walked out, but he didn't say a thing.
One of his subordinates came forward and asked, "Young master, should we trust this information?"
Yan Luo's eyes suddenly turned cold and he slapped that person across the face before saying, "Is there even a need to ask? He's not someone average, he has the eyes of someone who is playing with their life."
Then after a slight pause, he asked himself, "But what is he betting his life on?"
He looked over at his subordinates and said, "That kind of person is the most dangerous because they have nothing to lose. That means that his information is definitely real or it's complete BS since he doesn't care if he lives or not. That means that it's good enough to bet on, but then there's the way he said it. It's clear that this was his first time doing this, so it won't be a lie since he wouldn't be good enough to lie about this."
The girl from before said, "Young master, then are we heading to the fifth floor?"
Yan Luo tapped his finger on the table and closed one eye as he fell into deep thought. After a while, he said, "No, we're leaving him. I wanted to get some information from him on the Nova Group's plans, but since we already got what we wanted, there's no reason for us to stay here any longer. But before we go, take care of the noodle shop on the third floor. It seems like our spy has been bought out and we don't let traitors get off that easily."
As he said this, there wasn't a single bit of warmth in his eyes at all.
The girl gave a nod before saying, "Yes young master."
Then she quickly left the room.

On Lin Fan's side, after coming out of the room, he immediately headed back to the elevator.
Every drop of blood in his body was currently boiling since he had never done something like that before. This kind of thing was so nerve wracking that he was close to puking, but he forced himself to hold it in.
After entering the elevator, he took out the keycard that he received and tapped it at the card scanner on the bottom of the elevator.
He hadn't even noticed it the first few times he took the elevator and he had only noticed it now after Yan Luo had mentioned it to him.
Once the keycard came over the scanner, there was a ding before the elevator started moving up.
It moved at the same speed as before, but it felt like it was going much slower than before.
Finally, the elevator reached the top and stopped with a ding before slowly opening the doors.
