章 54: Back To Normal

Fantasia is not the only place to offer the kind of service they had. Every district has at least one except on his own District. Although none of them was as amazing as the first one.

"What match will you be betting, and how much?"

"Uhm… I'm just to watch."

"If you won't bet, then go watch some baby adventurers fight outside."

"…I've got money to waste."

This place doesn't need a recommendation or some sort to enter. It's free for all as long as you have money- And they don't need to be rich to have the ability to go in.

It looks like a simple tavern from the outside, but the single arena this establishment had is located underground.

"The next match would start ten minutes from now. It's between The Destroyer and Black Horse Warrior. The odds are x1.44:x2.86."

Since the venue is not that big, there is only one match at a time. However, the venue is still packing waiting for the fighters to enter the ring. Wolves, Orcs, Tentacle monsters, any race you can imagine was here holding the tickets they think will give them a better life.

Brian also bought a red ticket worth 10 gold. He chooses the safer option and went with The Destroyer who's favored by the odds.

These ten minutes gave enough time to see how much people are betting in this place just by looking at what kind of ticket they were holding. Bigger tickets mean it should be at least ten gold or more like what Brian has on his hands. There were bigger tickets compared to his, and those are at least 50 gold or more.

Seeing how many people are holding the biggest kind of ticket, Brian calculated the upcoming match alone has at least 10,000 gold in the pot. This place earns thousands of gold in just a single match. And the schedule listed on their board has 10-12 matches per day.

'The System wasn't joking when it said gambling dens make the most money.'

The excitement is just piling up as the spotlights are now all pointing at the arena. There seems to be little order since cheers and yells almost deafen Brian's ears. The name that came up the most was the fighter Brian chose, The Destroyer.

He cannot help but also get absorbed with the chaotic atmosphere. Before the match event starts, Brian was already cheering for The Destroyer himself.

"From the the red corner, undefeated since day one. None have left the arena when they face THE DESTROYER!!!"

Loud stomp accompanied the entrance of a brute bull holding a gigantic ax that barely fit the entrance of the arena. It was obvious why this fighter is the favorite to win.

Compared to the lesser impactful entrance of a literal horse walking on two legs, Brian was confident he's going to have an unexpected gain today.

The rules were simple. The last man who stays conscious will win. Injuries and death are permitted, but the fighters rather not do the latter because they'll only create enemies in that case.

"OH! What's this?! Looks like The Destroyer is being cornered!" The commentator comments on what many of the people present don't want to hear.

"Noooo! My gold coins"

"Hahaha! Easiest money of my life!"

"Don't you dare leave this place without paying me back."

The match ended with a lot of broken hearts. It was an upset where the undefeated lost their first fight. Brian can only wryly smile at the result knowing his luck was still the same despite moments where he thought it was improving.

Although it did not bother him that much compared to the rest beside him weeping and getting mad towards The Destroyer. The reason why he was here in the first place is to research and not enter the gambling scene once again. He just thinks the gold he used was for the entrance ticket to this place.

So he left the underground before the situation escalate and people start throwing fists in the air.

"That should be enough research I can put it on the list right?"

<System: …>

Silence means yes for the System. That means Brian has three things on his list. In just a few days in, he had already done more than half of his quest.

He has a couple of places he thinks would be one of the top businesses. Auction House is one of them however he needs to wait two more days before he can truly research it because the next auction event will be happening during that time.

For now, he can push aside the quest for a moment and focus on what he would do with his Alchemy Shop.

His next destination is the Collecto Guild then the Hunting Guild. Potions, elixirs, and even the paper used to create magic scrolls don't come easily. Compared to ores, items sold in an Alchemy Shop vary a lot in their ingredients.

Brian needs to visit the group of Ogz first. Those goblins may refer some people he can hire. They were nothing but exceptional when supplying his shop with ores daily. There was no time they had a lack of supply to sell.

Their salary was only 2 gold coins as a group, but now because Nova is profiting, Brian made it thrice their previous contract.

During this time, Ogz's group should be chilling in the Collecto Guild. Their working schedule was pretty good considering how much they were earning so they cannot help but feel they were lucky when they decided to invite Brian in their game of cards.

When Brian saw them eating some kebabs while playing the same card game, they appeared younger and less stressed before.

The benefits of having a good working condition.

"Boss Bry! What made you visit here?" Ogz was the first one to notice Brian coming at them.

"I'm here for another work."

"Work? I assume it's not mining-related because you're not asking us."

"Yea. So if you can refer me to someone that specializes in gathering magic potions ingredients then I'll appreciate it."

"Magic potions? Like those healing potions and such…? Then you'll have a lot of people waiting in the catalog."

"That's good then."

"Well there's a bit of a problem… It's better if you check it for yourself."

Heeding Ogz warning, Brian wondered why it would be a problem if there were a lot willing to gather magical ingredients.

Brian turns to the page of the catalog where the groups listed are those who specialized in gathering herbs, mystical flowers, and arcane water from uncanny rivers. When he says potions contain varying ingredients, it means a wide range of types.

However, the one common thing they had except they have magical properties, is that these groups who specialize in gathering these kinds of stuff are all charging high.

20 gold

17 gold

35 gold…

He wasn't able to see a group that had a starting price of single-digit in gold. He can only hope to assume each hire of these people could give him enough ingredients to work for at least a week.

"You see someone you that fancies you?"

"I'm not really sure until I meet them," Brian answered Ogz who checked on him.

"I can help you with that."

These goblins who always seems to play cards every time he visit came together and whispered among themselves. He doesn't know what they were doing, but he's willing to hear them out after working with them for a month.

They don't meet that much since Richi or Lucy usually handles their delivery, but these guys does their job well. Brian doesn't see any problem lending them his attention before deciding whose group to hire.

"I saw you're Nova is branching out from being a blacksmith. I'm not really sure why you would do that when your blacksmith seems to be very successful, but I assume you're going to branch out once again in the future."

"That's right. I'm not sure what's next. I may put up a restaurant or something out of this world."

"… Right. So you'll need more and more materials."

"You've pretty got much of what's my business model is."

"I've got a proposal…"
