MIRI
We stopped at the café so James could make sure Solange was okay with holding down the fort while he was away. She’d been Philippe’s store manager before he died, so she knew more about running the restaurant than James did. James worried that she resented him, that she felt Philippe should have left the café to her, but I didn’t think so. I thought she worried about him having such a big responsibility forced on him. I wished I could make them both see that this was a good thing - good for both of them.
And I wasn’t just guessing - I knew it because I’d seen it.
I knew a lot of stuff James didn’t. I don’t know why I hadn’t told anyone - especially him. I thought it would drive people crazy if they suspected I could sometimes see into the secret parts of their lives and sometimes even see their future. I only wished I could see something of my own.
