章 23: *Rescue*
Its's time for the rescue. I called Toshinori on the phone.
"Hello Toshinori"-Shido
"Hello Shido, so what do you want to talk about early in the morning?"-Toshinori
"Can you come to my shop? I need to talk to you about something very important." -Shido
"Ok I will come as soon as possible."-Toshinori
After half an hour, Toshinori in his small might form came to the shop which have a sign 'CLOSED'. He went in, Shido was waiting for him. They took seats, Shido sat opposite to him.
"So what is the important thing?"-Toshinori
"Can you rescue a girl from the Yakuza?"-Shido
Toshinori frowned as it was not such a big request, a team of heroes will be enough for it and Yakuza are not that strong compared to their power before the age of heroes. but asked
"Is it that simple?"-Toshinori
"No, the Yakuza is Shie Hassaikai and the girl is the granddaughter of the Boss of the Yakuza."-Shido
This further confused why Shido is trying to rescue a girl from the Yakuza her grandfather runs. Seeing the confusion Shido explained things to Toshinori that the boss is in a comatose state and the Yakuza is now under the control of Kai Chisaki. Kai Chisaki wants to make Quirk-Destroying Drug to reduce the power of government and heroes, while also selling the antidote to gain the monopoly in market and raise the power of Yakuza to their former glory. And the key to the drug is the girl. Shido didn't revealed Eri's quirk.
Listening to this, Toshinori now knew the seriousness of the matter. If the drug is released it will create a power imbalance between heroes and villains in the country leading to chaos everywhere.
"Can I know the source of the information?"-Toshinori wanted to know the authenticity of the news.
"Can't tell, the person wants to be anonymous, but the news is coming straight from the Underworld."-Shido
This cleared the doubts of Toshinori, as such things will first appear in Underworld. But Toshinori was wondering how to rescue the girl.
"How did you get to know the news?"-Toshinori
"Hmm, I have some contacts here and there you know."-Shido said while showing a small smile becoming more mysterious to Toshinori.
"I will what I can do."-Toshinori stood from his place and left.
"Yeah you do your thing and I will do mine"-Shido said as he looked at the back of leaving Toshinori.

That day, Nighteye called Toshinori as he wanted to talk about something. Toshinori went to Nighteye's Agency in Hosu city to talk. It was already evening, Nighteye told him about the future where All might with several heroes are fighting the gangsters, and an unexpected help came. All might was now sure about the authenticity of the news, decided to tell Nighteye about it, how the gangsters were Yakuza members and the Quirk Destroying drug Yakuza is making to destabilize the heroes.
As Nighteye heard about this news, he quickly called for the meeting of heroes who can present in the area or can respond as soon as possible. Not many could show up, but the number was sufficient according to Nighteye as he saw the number of yakuza members in the vision. He briefed the whole situation to the present heroes and declared that they will take action tomorrow morning as soon as they get the arrest warrant. The reason for the sudden attack was, if the news of the product is already in the underworld, then the release of product is not that far away. They don't want the drugs to be even released.
Nighteye contacted the authorities about the issue and were guaranteed that they can issue an arrest warrant as the first thing in the morning.

Next morning, the heroes and the police rushed towards the Yakuza base (Seen in the future vision of Nighteye.) , the yakuza members started resisting the police and heroes by fighting and blocking the entrance. While this was happening, All might didn't want to take more time to complete this mission, as the more the time passes the more the time the yakuza gets to gather and flee.
"Texas Smash" he made a powerful wind pressure to throw yakuza members from the way.
Nighteye began leading the police force and heroes inside the base. While this was happening, a person in black costume was already moving inside the secret passage.

Few minutes earlier,
I checked the heroes and villains are tangled, I ran in the base from the other entrance to avoid heroes, as there may be a hero with a perception based quirk.

This cheat makes my presence very thin making it hard to find me or see me under normal conditions. If someone is actively looking for me, then may be able to find an approximate position. If I attacked someone in this state, then they may be able to dodge the attack if they possess high perception skills that is they are very skilled in fights or through their quirk.
I used [Maps] to find the correct route towards the room in which Eri is in right now. I made my towards the room but found two more presences coming towards the room, but they are far from the room and it will take some time.

Eri was startled to see a person 'suddenly' appearing in her room, she feared as the person was fully covered in his costume.
I walked towards Eri which was making her uncomfortable as she was curling herself more and more with tears in her eyes. To make the situation a bit light, I removed my helmet, she must have been fearing my helmet, and crouched.
"Hello, is your name Eri?"-Shido said in light and caring tone.
"...Y..Yes"-Eri
"So, Eri do you want to leave this place and live happily?"-Shido
Shido was asking obvious things just to communicate with her to lower her wariness.
Eri was stunned for a moment , but quickly nodded as she wanted to leave as soon as possible but quickly shook her head as Kai had told her that she is a cursed child, wherever she will go she will bring misfortune to others.
"Eri, don't be so weak-willed, everyone has the right to live freely, live in happiness and live with freedom."-Shido
This made Eri to see some light of hope for her freedom. She also wanted to be free and happy like others.
"You can also live happily and there is no need for you to stay in a room for the rest of you life."-Shido
While he was talking, the presences ere getting closer and closer to the room.
"Eri, can you wait here for me? I or an uncle with blonde hair will come to rescue you. ok Just wait here for us."-Shido said this and put back his helmet.

He dashed towards the incoming two presences. He took out two sawn-off shotguns, as he went closer, he found the two presences were of two people from the eight bullets.
He quickly fired and blowed their heads-off before they could register who was in front of them. He ran towards the direction of Overhaul. When he reached there, All might was already in a fight with the 2 of eight of bullets, Overhaul and Chronostasis and Mimicry. Nobody turned towards Shido as everyone was entangled with All Might.
Shido took aim and started shooting the members of eight bullets first.
'Unexpected Help from the vision of Nighteye.' All might Thought
Some members were able to dodge the incoming bullets but four were not able to dodge and died on the spot.
"What are you doing? Don't kill them, we have to arrest them."-All might
"It's your work not mine."-Night Slash
Night Slash didn't stopped and continued to shoot while changing weapons from shotguns to assault rife to submachine guns. He killed all of them, including Overhaul while All Might was trying to subdue them.
"You know what you have done, it's murder you will have to be punished by the law, you are coming with me."-All Might said while not having the his signature smile on his face.
"Let's save the girl first, then we can talk about this."-Night Slash
"There is no need of any talk, you will be handed to the police after this and Nighteye already went to save the girl"-All Might
Hearing Nighteye is with Eri should give him some assurance but something was bugging him right now.
'I killed 4 of the eight bullets where are the others.'
When he reached the room where Eri was, they saw police and heroes standing in a circle surrounding something, making it difficult what was ahead of them.
Shido pushed the police and heroes aside to go to the center. The heroes and police quickly recognized him as Night Slash as the description from witnesses matches him very accurately. When he reached the center, he saw two bodies lying on the ground. One was of a man with green hair and some yellow mixed in it and other was of a small child with white hair.
This scene was never expected by Shido. He quickly went towards the body of the girl, and took her in his arms.
"Hey Eri, wake up, look I have saved you from the villains who captured you, You can live happily now."-Shido
He threw his helmet off his face.
"Look I threw the helmet, no need to be afraid of me right? It's me... look Eri I told you You can live happily and freely."
Tears started dropping from his eyes.
"Hey Eri.. Why don't you reply.. say something."-Shido
Everyone was shocked to see the real face of the vigilante Night Slash and how he was crying for the girl. All Might was also surprised to see his friend being the Vigilante known for the week-long Villain Hunting.
All might now understand why Shido had the news and he wanted to save the child. He placed his hand on the shoulder of Shido to console him.
"She cannot ... She is dead Shido. You have to let go"-Shido
Shido turned towards All Might with bloodshot eyes.
"It's all your fault.... Yes , it's all your fault. "-Shido
Shido knew it was his fault but he cannot accept it, he cannot accept the fact that Eri died because of him. He could have taken her to a safe place first while he was in stealth then fight Overhaul and his minions, but his overconfidence took over him. All Might could have fought them for more time but still he interrupted the fight instead of saving Eri.
He didn't knew why he was crying, was it the fact that Eri is dead or Eri is dead because of him.
All Might couldn't say anything, He was in shock with so many things happening, his former sidekick Nighteye died along with the rescue target of their mission, trying to defend her from the remaining 4 of eight bullets. He died with Eri before the reinforecement could come. The reinforcement quickly subdued the remaining Eight bullets.
And his friend turned out to be a Vigilante.
Shido felt really bad as he gave her hope to live. If she died earlier, she would be liberated from her torment, but Shido gave her hope to live freely and happily ,saying he can save her, and she died. This made her death more horrible for her when she just had some hope for her future and she died after few minutes, crushing her hope entirely. This made her death more horrible for Shido.
Shido was on his knees, holding the dead body of Eri, with tears falling from his eyes.
"Don't..... don't d... Die. Please... Don't die on me"

章 24: Peace and Future Again.
I woke up in a shock. My whole body was drenched in sweat. I couldn't understand what I saw was a dream or a vision of future. The dream was really scary and eye-opening for me. I looked at Fuyumi who was sleeping peacefully on my bed. It made a small smile on my face. I folded the futon and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
It was 4 in the morning. I went to the window of my room and looked at the peaceful street. I haven't done this in a long time. Whenever I woke up, I will start training martial arts.
The street was peaceful, soothing to me. I remember the first time I did this, I decided what I'll do in the future. It all was based on my wish to achieve this peace, living a peaceful life with my closed ones. I made took out my 'need to do' list from a drawer. I looked at the list I made months back. I trained and got the power to defend myself and the ones close to me, I got in a relationship with Fuyumi, even her family approves of us now.
'But I got overconfident in my strength in this period. Killing high-level villains really made me think I am invincible, what a joke?'
I was really disappointed in myself. I was so drowned in raising my basic strength, I didn't even noticed that I became so overconfident and delusional. When did I became so heroic to go and kill villains everyday. I wanted a peaceful life right? When did I became so hypocritical, that I wanted to be a hero-like. This must be the Hero-Complex they say.
I was thinking all this, when the picture of dead Eri (from dream) came to my mind. It was very shocking for me as I always thought my plans were right. She died because I got overconfident that I can kill Overhaul and his lackeys, and save Eri at the same time. Even seasoned heroes like All Might cannot do it without co-operating with a team, what gave me the confidence to do it, even in my dreams.
I was looking at the street with melancholic eyes, when I felt two hands wrapping around me in a hug from the back.
"You woke up?"-Shido
"..Yeah.. "-Fuyumi
"Sorry for waking you up."-Shido
"No..it's not your fault I just woke myself up."-Fuyumi
After that, there was only silence, Shido was looking at the street and Fuyumi hugging him.
"Why are you feeling sad?"-Fuyumi
"What makes you think I am sad?"-Shido moves his gaze towards Fuyumi
"You were looking at the street with sad eyes and you still have sadness in your eyes."-Fuyumi
Shido was silent for a moment, then
"I was thinking about the future."-Shido
"Was there a Fuyumi Todoroki in your future?"-Fuyumi asked in a childish manner
"No."-Shido said plainly without any second thought
Fuyumi was shocked and her hands loosened the hug.
"There was a Fuyumi Kanzaki there, from what I can see."-Shido said in a playful smile
Fuyumi pouted and then started hitting Shido's chest with non-existing damage. She then stopped and pulled Shido into a big tight hug.
"Really?"-Fuyumi
Shido also hugged Fuyumi and said "Yeah."
They enjoyed the moment, alone and peaceful. After a bit of silence,
"You are hiding something from me, right?"-Fuyumi
"Yeah"-Shido just replied without trying to change the topic.
"When will you tell me?"-Fuyumi
"Soon, when all this will be over."-Shido
"Hmm"-Fuyumi
"Have you not think of a possibility where I will never tell you my secrets?"-Shido
"No, I trust you, you will tell me sooner or later but I was feeling impatient that's why I asked."-Fuyumi
Shido smiled listening to this answer
"Fuyumi, you know, you are too sweet and I think you are too good for me sometimes."-Shido
"So, you are using the 'too good for me' trope to break up with me."-Fuyumi said in a playful smile.
"No, I am not trying to break up with you. It just makes my ego as a man grow bigger as I got a girlfriend way out of my league."-Shido
Shido breaks the hug and caresses Fuyumi's face. Fuyumi just gives a sweet smile. Shido pulls her in a passionate kiss.
After the kiss, Fuyumi yawned and went to the bed to sleep again. Shido sat near the window, now more determined to do things more seriously.
'I initially thought using the distraction of heroes and Yakuza members fighting to rescue Eri and defeat Overhaul at the same time, but the whole plan is flawed, the major flaw being the heroes interrupting my work as I will directly kill the yakuza members. The dream showed me my flaws. I will rescue her but with a different approach this time.'
Shido laid next to Fuyumi on the bed.
"I will definitely save her this 'time'." -Shido said and closed his eyes.
(A/N: Last chapter had some points forced, such as All Might believing Shido easily about the drug news. The reason for that is, the entire chapter is a dream. There were a lot of problems but that entire chapter being a dream justifies them. And the reason Shido threw his helmet was, he thought Eri feared his helmet, so when he was talking to her corpse in the dream, he was in an emotional state in which he was thinking that Eri is not talking to him for some reason, so he threw the helmet to show that he was the same person who talked to her earlier.)

章 25: The Crew.
The next few days went as usual, Fuyumi and I spent time together, I opened the shop regularly. But I didn't went for the villain-hunt. I just wanted to spend these days in peace. The peace was broken after I got a call from Giran.
"Hello, is Mr. Erebus is talking?"-Giran
"Yes.."-Shido/Erebus (Erebus is the alias he used to meet Giran. It is the name of primordial god of darkness in Greek Mythology.)
"I have gathered the all the information Present in the underworld, about Shie Hassaikai Clan in Hosu city."-Giran
"I will come to your shop for the information and paying the remaining payment."-Shido
"Ok, I will expecting you by 5 PM"-Giran
Shido hung up and the call and looked at the time
'It's 3:45 PM, I should leave now.'

Shido was seating in front of Giran who having a file filled with the details about Shie Hassaikai. Shido gave a slight read to the details and putted it aside. He took out a big stack of cash and placed on the table. Giran happily took the cash.
"Pleasure to doing business with you."-Giran
"Likewise"-Shido
Shido was silent for some moment before taking out a list and placed it on the table. Giran took the list, he looked at the list, he saw some names written on it. He looked at Shido for the meaning.
"I am looking for the information of the people whose names are written on it."-Shido
"With recent location?"-Giran
"Yes."-Shido
"I have the details of some of the people but I will have to check about their locations."-Giran
"How much time will it take?"-Shido
"You can expect it by tomorrow, but you'll have to pay half the price in advance."-Giran
Shido placed 2 big stacks of cash and placed it on the table.
"I am paying full now, You just prepare the information as soon as possible."-Shido
Giran nodded with a grin and took the money. He was already liking this customer, always to the point and giving more money than the price.
Shido left Giran's shop and went back to his usual routine.

Shido is standing outside the door of an apartment. After getting the details from Giran about the individuals mentioned in the list, he is standing in front of the door of one the mentioned individuals. He is currently in his 'Night Slash' outfit. He stood their for a while thinking about something, then

The Recruit anyone cheat does the same as it's name it helps to recruit anyone. When this cheat is activated, the words of Shido will be very convincing and alluring to the target, but the cheat fails if the words are totally contradicting or not in line with the target's thinking. The maximum respect cheat increases the [Respect] stat to max temporarily. This increases the chances of recruiting someone as the more respect you have, more likely people will follow you.
Shido, after activating the cheats, knocked on the door. After some time, the door was opened by a short girl with twin tails.
"Hello, can you call Mr. Danjuro Tobita"-Shido
The short girl was a little surprised as the person on the door was wearing a costume and called Gentle Criminal with his real name. The important thing is, the person is very elegant and seems to have a high status (effects of the respect cheat). This made the the little girl happy inside, as she thought their videos finally caught the attention of someone important, but her happiness was short-lived as she realized the person can be from the government law enforcement agencies to arrest them.
"Who are you?"- Little girl asked with some wariness.
"You can call me Night Slash, as most people call me by the name."-Shido said. He still doesn't like this alias given by the police and public.
The name Night Slash made the girl realize who was standing in front of her. The name is very popular on the internet, as the said person is very mysterious and is only mentioned by some witnesses saved by him or the reports from the police. It is rumored that he kills very high level villains and threatens the low level villains by placing a grenade in their mouths. The said vigilante is famous for his week-long villain hunt, where he killed high-level villains continuously for 7 days.
The little girl was now alarmed and panicked, the man in front of her is a vigilante and her accomplice Gentle Criminal is a villain, it was obvious what could it mean. The girl was thinking what to do. While she was thinking what to do, to avoid this situation, a voice from inside the room came,
"La Brava dear, who is on the door this late?"-Gentle
This made the girl who is La Brava, fear more, as the person now knows that Gentle is inside. When La Brava wanted to say something,
"What is taking so long La Brava.. Oh.. who are you?"-Gentle who came to the door now.
La Brava had some cold sweat forming on her forehead.
"My name is Night Slash, I saw your videos on the internet and came to see you"-Shido
Gentle was surprised as he didn't expected a viewer to meet him personally but didn't find it odd as he met La Brava in the same way. Gentle was now looking at the person. The person definitely has a high status than him as he subconsciously had a feeling of respect towards him (effects of respect cheat). Gentle was now praising himself as he was able to attract a person of high status through his video, but La Brava was having a complete different thought process, she interpreted the meaning as 'I have watched you doing a crime, so here I am to kill you.'
"Oh.. I am very happy meeting my admirers, why don't you come inside."-Gentle said excitedly, inviting Shido inside his apartment.
Shido entered the apartment which was just average, not very luxurious or small. But the eye-catching thing was the various types of tea sets consisting of luxury looking tea cups and pots. Gentle and La Brava also followed him back.
"Nice collection you got there."-Shido praised him genuinely
"Haha.. It is just a hobby of mine but also shows my love towards tea."-Gentle was now liking his new 'admirer'.
"So, may I know the reason for your visit to my abode?"-Gentle
"Yes, I was just going to that point."-Shido
La Brava's heart was beating very fast, she believes in Gentle's abilities as he had defeated many pro-heroes, but the difference in this case is the pro-heroes wanted to arrest or subdue them, the vigilante in front of them will attack with the intention of killing them.
"I want you to join my crew."
