Ace was startled when he saw the notification, but his surprise didn't last long because the information related to the Heavenly Formation Coins was in the very beginning of the fundamentals of array crafting! 

The fundamentals of array crafting were vastly different from the traditional array crafting that Ace knows of because it was the Heavenly Array Crafting. For starters, he needed the Heavenly Formation Coins, not formation plates, to 'craft' the heavenly arrays.
