章 31: Encounter
The sun casted a giant middle finger at me.
'I need to stop brooding.'
Throwing the sheets away, yuuji got up and went to the river nearby to wash myself. It was annoying for him to constantly bury his horns but at some point he got used to it. The only thing he hasn't gotten used to are cold showers.
"Are you okay yuuji?" Yoriichi called him out with a pitying expression on his face.
'Bastard'
"Get out of my face or you'll regret it scarface."
"Are you still crying about your breakup?"
"You're going to keep pushing huh." He muttered with a face promising a thousand deaths.
"....Just trying to cheer you up my friend."
"Forget about it, it was probably my obsession for a family."
"Are you sure about that."
"Yea."
"..."
"Enough about me. What about you? How does it feel to become a demon slayer?"
"It's....a unique experience. There are some very talented swordsmen there but the most talented one was your wife koko."
"Let's not talk about her."
"They all learn the same sword style but there are many variations to it. Some make it purely defensive while the others go for pure offence, some are a mix between two and some are for confusing the enemy."
"Is it better than yours?"
"The sword style has potential but it would take time to reach mine. On a separate note, she who must not be named was quite peeved when she saw me so I believe she will try her best to kill you. "
"You think you can win when it's complete?"
A smirk made it to his face as he confidently spoke.
"The sun will burn everything in the end."
"Oho~"

[Yuuji's POV]
I tread through the bustling crowd and reached the entertainment district. The arena was packed with warriors and samurais eager to gain the spotlight, win the prize money and get a chance to be accepted into the [Dojo]s.
They are traditionally in the field of martial arts, but has been seen increasingly in other fields, such as meditation and swords. The term literally means "place of the Way".
But I had no intention to get involved in these.
'As expected, they all have normal strength, but their techniques speak a different language.'
The samurais and martial artists were skilled in their crafts. Their techniques were refined. Their movements showed the countless years they practiced it.
An honest sword wielded with pride.
'I need that.'
Muzan and yoriichi both had their original techniques. While my martial arts was a shell I gained from the first body's memories.
It was like being in VR. Even though I remember fighting as a shinobi, I cannot recall the experience. It was imitation of the original.
With that goal set, I turned back and started heading towards the notorious demon. According to yoriichi, there was a strong demon lurking near the mountains apparently searching for something.
In hopes of encountering the suspected upper moon demon, I started walking.

[Narrator POV]
A dense forest. Not even a single sign of life nearby. The sun's rays were completely blocked by the towering trees, and lastly...
Eerie sound occasionally erupting.
A good place to encounter the mid-boss.
Walking further ahead yuuji reached an area dyed almost red with dried bloodstains. Countless swords were scattered around corpses, most of them in pristine condition indicating how little they managed to put up a fight against the demon.
The corpses were in a miserable state. Some had half their heads turned to mush while the others had gaping holes on their bodies. The most disturbing one was a body tied into a knot on a tree branch.
The cave located at his right emanated heavy killing intent, not as much as muzan but still exceptionally heavy.
"You've got guts coming here despite knowing that muzan-sama would know that you're here with the blood link." The upper moon demon said with a raspy voice.
"It's day right now. The only dark place is the forest here. To reach here they'd still have to travel at night." Yuuji replied in a provoking tone.
"Then I'll just have to hold you here."
"We'll see."
