Chapter 29: The Maximoff Twins
Wanda and Pietro Maximoff.
I can't believe it.
I mean I accounted for the possibility the twins might already be present at Struckers facility when I attacked it, but to see them before me in the flesh is wonderful.
For I was hoping meet and then bring them both to my side.
Partially to keep them out of clutches of groups like HYDRA and Magneto's Brotherhood of Idiots, and partially so I could give them comfortable lives. Since with all the shit they went through during their early years in both the MCU and the comics they deserve it.
Eyeing me with suspicion and fear Wanda and Pietro tightly held onto each other.
The formers eyes slightly flickering between her natural brown and a deep red.
Me sensing Wanda's immense magical energy reserves when her eyes flickered red.
But considering she is the fabled Scarlet Witch that doesn't surprise.
Her potential is something I cannot even fathom.
Just thinking about it sends a shiver down my spine.
Especially with my foreknowledge of what she can potentially do.
Both the good and the bad. The latter I want to prevent at all costs.
Since when Wanda Maximoff loses her shit the whole of reality ends up in danger. Both in the MCU and especially the comics this was showcased well many times. So I want to work with Wanda to make sure none of those events ever come to pass.
Ever.
So it's time to take my first steps towards making that goal a reality.
I took a step forward in the direction of Wanda and Pietro.
"No! Stay back!"
Only to stop in my tracks when Wanda shouted at me and raised her left hand in my direction.
When she did I felt a force trying to push me back.
Telling me she, and likely Pietro, already have access to their powers.
Despite the fact Strucker hadn't yet acquired Loki's Scepter which housed the Mind Stone, that helped the twins unlock their powers in the MCU.
Meaning their origins in this world are probably closer to the comics and X-Men television shows. Like X-Men TAS or X-Men Evolution. Especially given the twins age. The two of them looking to be about either 12 or 13.
Just a bit older than Kristoff, who is currently eleven years old.
Though following that logic I can't help but wonder if the twins father is Magneto. Just like it was before the comics reconned it.
Which I always found to be a horrible mistake and made no sense whatsoever.
I mean that change ruined so many storylines for me.
But it is what it is.
Though I really do need to learn whether Magneto is the father of the Maximoff twins. For that will affect several of my plans.
Listening to Wanda I stopped in my tracks.
When I did she lowered her left hand and I felt the force trying to push me back stop. Not that it was really affecting me at all.
"Hey, it's okay. I am not going to hurt either of you." I spoke.
Then as a show of good faith I reached up, pulled down my hood, and then slipped off my helmet. So the twins could truly see my face. "I just want to help you both."
"Like the people here helped us?!" Pietro angrily asked.
"No, not like them. Never." I said. "What I want to do, if you both will allow me, is to truly help you." I took a step forward and extended our my right hand. "My name is Victor, and if you both come with me I make you this promise here and now that no one will ever hurt you again like they did at this place."
A silence filled the air after I spoke.
The twins looked at my extended hand, curious expressions on their faces.
This went on for close to five minutes, before finally a change took place.
Standing to their feet the twins slowly approached my outstretched hand, and then Wanda took it.
"Thank you for trusting me." I told them. "I meant what I said earlier. You will never regret doing so. By the way, would you both mind telling me your names?"
"Wanda." Wanda spoke.
"Pietro." Pietro said.
"Wanda and Pietro. Nice to meet you." I said to them.
I then introduced them to the Doombots.
Which made both children get stars in their eyes, and for a moment drop the guard they had been putting up.
Seeing this I nodded.
Then after I did I used my technopathy to inform the other Doombots of Wanda and Pietro existence. I also told them to pick up the pace in collecting all they could from the base.
Because even though we are in control of all signals the base is transmitting and receiving, and have the surrounding area lockdown in a ten mile radius in all directions, I would rather not stay here longer than I have too.
Having recieved my orders my Doombots picked up their pace.
As they did I made small talk with Wanda and Pietro to get a better sense of the both of them.
In doing so I found out how they ended up here at Struckers facility.
Apparently a few months ago both twins started displaying their powers.
When Strucker got wind of this he sent his agents to retrieve them. Their mother Magda, ending up killed in the process.
Then the twins were brought here where Strucker and his people performed dangerous and unethical experiments on them to test the limits of their powers. As well as to see if they could be replicated.
While the Maximoff twins recounted events both of them got years in their eyes. I could also sense their fear, pain, and anger.
Due to this I said nothing and let them tell their tale.
Then when they were finished I got on a knee in front of them and pulled them both into a hug.
Since they definitely needed it.
Reciprocating my hug the twins leaned into me and cried.
This went on for five minutes until they finally stopped.
When they did I pulled away, and then gently patted them both atop their heads. "You children have been very brave. Braver than others your age should have to be. But it's alright now. For I am here." I spoke. "Also, what of your father?"
Since during the twins entire story they never once mentioned him.
"We never met him." Wanda said.
"Yeah." Pietro added. "Our mom told us he died before we were born." He explained.
"I see." I replied.
Though that just gives more credence to the idea that the twins are Magneto biological children in this world. Though without a DNA test I can't be sure.
Better get one of those pronto.
I also need to look out for Lorna Dane.
Since if old bucket head sired Wanda and Pietro then it's a good chance Polaris is walking around this Marvel universe somewhere.
As I thought on the matter I was interrupted as my Doombots contacted me. Informing me they had finished acquiring anything of value in the base.
They had also set the explosive charges I provided them at the bases key structural points.
For I am not letting this place continue to stand in what is already essentially greater Latveria.
Replying using my technopathy I instructed all the Doombots to gather at the front entrance of the base.
Once I did I put my helmet back on.
"Come children. Let us leave this place." I spoke.
Wanda and Pietro nodded.
Upon seeing this I started walking, the Maximoff siblings following right behind me. Along with the Doombots that were present.
Our group eventually reached the bases main entrance.
When we did we then began to wait, until all other Doombots in the area arrived.
Once they did I opened two portals.
One to a meeting room in Castle Doom in Latveria.
While another was too a secure storage facility in Latveria I had set up. For when I made acquisitions like all I took from HYDRA today.
When the portal opened the Doombots carrying the items they had procured from Struckers base walked through the secure storage facility portal.
"Woah, so cool!" Pietro mused.
"How is this possible?" Wanda asked in wonder.
"Magic." I told the both of them.
I then continued watching the Doombots trek through the storage facility portal.
Then once all those who were meant to pass through it were on the other side I closed it.
I then ushered Wanda and Pietro through the portal linked to Castle Doom.
The remaining Doombots accompanying them.
Once all of them were through I used my armor to activate the remote detonators on the explosives.
I then walked through my portal, an explosion going off behind me as I did.
Always wanted to try that.
Once through I slammed the portal shut.
My mission having been accomplished and then some.
