I held Jayden's wrist to stop him from opening the door. He looked at me and smiled.
"It's okay. I need to do this, Peg. I don't want to be trapped anymore." He said.
I nodded and let go of him. My heart pounded when he slowly pushed the door. It gave a loud creaky sound as we waited for it to completely opened.
I gulped when I saw the interior of the house. I already expected the worst, but I frowned when it was clean and tidy. It was the only house that looked like a home.
I wondered why the apartment was neat and the furnitures were in the proper places. All the other houses, including the commercial buildings, were abandoned, burned and torned.
Jayden stepped inside and I followed. The place didn't feel weird and eerie anymore. If we knew nothing about what had happened in the past, we could never tell that a murder occurred in that place.
"Love?" I asked confused.
"I know." He said.
My new book titled The Billionaire's Legal Mistress is out now.
