The secret passage closed behind them after they had walked down five steps. The dark passage was immediately given light by the torches which had been set to guide the way of those who would come through. 

The passage led them past several rooms and even the servants quarters. But they were hidden within the walls so they didn't have the unfortunate luck of being caught. The passage was split into several other passages and it made Clarissa wonder if Kieran used the passage a lot considering they hadn't gotten lost. 

Or had they?

It also seemed getting to her room was taking too long. 

The west and east wings were not that far in actuality but why did taking the secret passage make it seem like a longer distance.
