章 305: Carved in stone

With the torches lit around I was able to see better but that was of zero help with the amount of papers scattered in the ground. Scattered would be a rather wrong word. They just piled up enough to let me know this was not a job to be done within a short time. 

Nevertheless I started picking up random scrolls off the ground. 

"Not this," I said while I went shuffling through papers and put them behind me, "not this either... this looks like another copy... so many copies!" There were recurring scrolls around, about courtroom matters. Most of it taxes and few of it secret decrees. Almost all of them were dated during my grandfather's time. "It will be Impossible this way!" I sighed. Rosalia had taken out a safe time for me and here I was, messing with it. 

As long as I could find something. With defeated hopes I just moved the scrolls to see if there was anything below the pile.
