Dara moved here and there on her bed but couldn't sleep. Her eyes remained open. She was feeling hungry. She got up and sat on her bed. She started to think about her time with William. Her stomach gave a sound, "Huh I should not be going to the kitchen in the middle of the night."
She got up and gazed outside the window. She stared at the big round shinny moon in the sky. It looked as beautiful as anything could be. She opened the window to let the cool fresh air come inside. She stared at the moon and cared about nothing. She started to feel strange. Her head started getting dizzy. Her nails started to grow. She could feel her bones moving and changing their places. She could feel hair grow on her skin. She didn't know what to do. She turned to the mirror and saw hair grow all over her body. She saw her clothes tearing off. She was scared. It was painful but ticklish too. She saw herself turning into a wolf.
She was big. She was huge. She was all covered with dark hair. She wasn't the size of an actual wolf. She looked fierce. She moved closer to the mirror on her four legs. She looked same as the wolf she saw in her dream. She got scared. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know how to transform back into her body.
She tried to pick up her phone to text William about what happened with her but she couldn't. Knowing not what to do, she jumped out of the window and ran in the streets. She ran circles around her house. She was very hungry. Her stomach was carving for flesh and blood. She saw a girl walking in the street. She ran after her.
The girl saw her and started to scream for help. Dara jumped on the girl and instantly bit her neck. Dara saw that girl struggling for her life. Dara didn't want to eat that girl but she couldn't resist. She tore out her skin. The blood dripped from her mouth. Dara ate her like it was her last feast.
Suddenly Dara heard wolves' growls from behind. She stopped eating and turned around. There were four wolves standing behind her and staring at her. They looked angry. They were very little in front of Dara. Dara was scared but she knew that she was bigger than them and that she could scare them.
Dara growled at them with anger. Instead of running away, one of the wolves jumped at her and attacked her. The wolf gave her a scratch. Dara hit that wolf with her big paw and she ran as fast as she could. She ran and ran and the wolves chased her. Soon those wolves were out of sight. Dara started to transform back into a girl. "No not now!" she screamed. She knew the wolves were still looking for her. She started running on two legs. Her body was transformed back but she was still covered with hair. Her foot got hit to something and she fell down.
Her eyes opened due to the loud bangs of alarm. She got up with a shock, "What a crazy dream I had last night?" She found herself naked on the bed. There were her torn out clothes on the floor. She got petrified and jumped off her bed. She felt some pain on the back side of her shoulder. When she went to the mirror to see what it was, there was bandage on that part of her body. She slowly pulled the bandage off. It was really painful. She moaned in pain as she took it off.
There were three big deep scars on her body. It wasn't a dream. Dara then realized that she wasn't a human. "But how can this be possible?" she thought. She thought to tell everything to William. She was scared of herself. She quickly took a shower, put another bandage on her scar and got all dressed up.
"Good morning granddad!" she entered the dining room.
"Good morning sunshine! How are you?"
"I'm good. I really need to go to school right now."
"Not without your breakfast."
Dara grabbed an apple and said, "I'll just take this apple."
"Stay safe young girl."
"Have a nice day Granddad." she kissed Stephen's fore head and off she went for school.
She rode her bicycle as fast as she could. She reached school and started to find William. Someone grabbed her hand from behind and said, "Don't let anyone know what happened with you last night." Dara quickly turned around to see who was there but she found no one. "He sounded like Charles." she thought.
She was in her thoughts when someone tickled her back. It was William. Stacy and Lenny were also there. Dara hugged William tightly, "I missed you!"
"I missed you more babe."
Sabrina came and not noticing Dara standing there, she told her friends, "Another kid's dead. We have to find that wolf and kill it."
Dara got scared, "Which wolf?"
"Oh Dara!" Sabrina looked at her, "I didn't know you were here."
"No wolf darling. Let's go to our class." William put his arm around her shoulder and started walking towards their class. It was hurting when his arm touched the scars but she acted like she didn't cared because she wanted no one to know about the scars. Dara looked back to catch a view of Sabrina. She saw all three of them standing worried and talking about something.
Dara entered the class and sat beside Charles as it was her seat beside him. "Hope you slept well." he said.
"Not really." she sighed.
"Why not?"
"I missed William a lot last night."
"Why didn't you call him over your house?"
"He did came last night. We spent time together but then he had to go."
"Everyone has to go one day."
"Like Wade went away." Dara looked at Charles and smiled. Dara loved William but she still had feelings for Charles.
The teacher entered the class with another announcement, "Good morning class! It is sadly reported that one of the students of this school has been found dead this morning. You are all asked to attend her funeral this evening. May she rest in peace."
"What about Billy? Has anyone seen him?" William asked the teacher.
"He's still missing. The police are still working on his case."
Tears rolled down Dara's cheeks. There was no one she could talk to. She didn't even know what she was. Charles held her hand and uttered, "Don't worry. Everything will be alright."
At lunch break, Dara couldn't find William or his friends. She sat in her classroom alone and thought about all that was happening, "I ate Billy too. I'm a monster." These thoughts were like a blaze of blue lightening in her brain. "Why can't I sense what William and his friends feel nor can I sense Charles." This was weird to her. "Are these five also monsters like me? If so then why do William and his friends wants to kill me?" These were the thoughts popping in her mind.
"Thought to give you some company." Charles entered the classroom.
"I was just waiting for William." she quickly wiped off her tears.
"Are you okay?" Charles came to her and hugged her.
Dara started to cry, "I'm so scared."
"Shhhh…stop crying cookie."
Dara suddenly stopped, got herself out of hold and looked at Charles with shocking eyes, "Wade?"
"I'm Charles." Charles laughed.
"Only Wade called me cookie." she told.
"I really want to eat one right now." he laughed, "Chill out girl. I don't know what you're going through but I suppose that everything will be alright soon."
"I hope that too."
At departure time when Dara was about to leave for home, William called her from behind.
"Where were you?" she exclaimed.
"Sorry I had to go. I had no time to tell you. I'll come meet you tonight again. Love you pretty." he spoke out these words, kissed her and went away. He looked in a hurry and tensed.
"I don't know what's going on." Dara sighed and rode back to her house.
"You can't skip lunch today." Stephen said as soon as Dara entered the house.
"Hey granddad!"
"I've ordered your favorite pizza flower."
Dara went close to her grandfather and hugged him, "Thank you for being my grandfather."
"And thank you for being my granddaughter."
They both ate the pizza and talked while eating.
"So are you going to the funeral with me?"
"Which funeral?"
"A wolf attacked a girl from your school last night. I am must to go as I'm the head of the island."
"Yeah I know that. I sure will come with you."
After lunch, Dara came down to her room. A thought suddenly popped in her mind, "As far as I remember I fell on the ground. I can't remember anything after that then how did I came back to my room and how was my wound bandaged?" It meant that anyone else except her knew her secret. There was someone else who knew that she was a monster.
