章 55: Matter of time
"How is Athan? I heard you visited him recently."
Raising his brows, Adrian remarked, "You seem to know many things about me. Are you stalking or spying on me?"
"Trust me, stalking and spying on you is the last thing I would do," Rachael chuckled. "I just heard about it."
"Or you asked someone—" he stopped midway when she glared at him. "Alright, I am sorry. Yes, I did visit him. Tried to persuade him to come back but well, he seems to like staying there than here so—"
"It's the same for Ivan but I respect his decision. I mean, even if he does come here, he will be webbed around all the nonsensical things that happen here all day. I just want him to live his life to the fullest."
Nodding his head in agreement, Adrian sighed, "I want Athan to do what he wants too but unlike Ivan who is yet to evolve, Athan has already—I just don't want him to get hurt or targeted by staying in such a vulnerable place."
"That is true but at least he is capable of protecting himself there Adrian, Ivan's protection is in our hands. A little mistake and anything can happen." Looking at the sky, Rachael closed her eyes. "Sometimes I feel if mom and dad were here, they would handle this situation better."
"Hey, don't say that—" Wrapping his hand around her shoulder, he tried to cheer her up. "You and Darius are doing great and Ivan couldn't be more lucky. Things will get so much better once he evolves—you just need to be patient and wait for the correct time."
Pausing for a while, she asked him. "Do you think Ivan will—?"
"Of course he will, it's just a matter of time. And when that happens, let's just hope Ivan takes it well."
Resting her head on his shoulder, she closed her eyes. "I just don't want him to suffer or get hurt."
"Don't worry, everything's gonna be okay," he assured her.
While the two of them were enjoying the silence and peace of the beautiful night, they were unaware of the presence of a third soul, who was staring at them from a distance.

Next day.
Amber's place.
"So..?"
"So what?" Amber inquired before cracking two eggs inside the bowl.
Rolling her eyes, Catheline scoffed, "Oh come on, as if you don't know what I am talking about."
"Cath, I seriously don't know what you are talking about."
"Oh come on, you know I am talking about your ex-client and new rich sexy ass friend," she remarked.
Scrunching her brows, Amber asked, "Ivan?"
"Oh my God so you admit that he is your rich sexy ass friend?"
Helplessly shaking her head, she sighed, "Cath can you hear yourself? You sound ridiculous."
Pouting her lips, Catheline complained, "Why do you always do this? It's not like I am saying something wrong."
"You are pairing me with a man I barely know, you are doing the most ridiculous thing on this entire planet."
