Nessa was surrounded by darkness; thick foggy darkness that clouded her mind. But besides that darkness, she could sense something else, loneliness - so gloomy and scary. She was lonely again. All alone. Where was she? Why couldn't she remember? But most importantly, why was she here?
Suddenly, Nessa felt a push at her back and the next thing she knew, she was falling down a dark bottomless pit or so she thought, because the next she was standing in the middle of a park with an Icecream cone in hand.
"What the fuck," she muttered, as the crowd of families went past her. Then it dawned on her, the pack looked familiar because she had been here before. To be precise, when she had been a kid - she never went to amusement packs afterward.
That was when Nessa looked down and to her horror, discovered she was in the same outfit as that day; a maroon t-shirt with green pants.
"Oh my God," Nessa gasped, this was her memory. She had been in the park with her family when Aiden said he wanted Ice Cream. As excited as Nessa was, she had run off to go buy it before her mother could even stop her and if her memory was right, this was the spot where she was…. Kidnapped.
"Nessa," She heard someone call her name and turned around only for the ice cream cone to slip off her hand slowly. Her world went blank.
This was crazy, Nessa thought as she woke up in that room - that same room from years ago. This was a nightmare; she was reliving her nightmare. At once, she tried standing but the room spun beyond control just as she heard the door, her body tensed.
No, no, no, this can't be. She didn't want to see that face. How could fate be so cruel to her, she already went through this nightmare.
"You're awake?"
No amount of squeezing her eyes shut nor closing her ear could stop her from hearing that voice loud and clear. This wasn't reality but a nightmare. A nightmare she had to face.
Nessa glanced up and blanched from shock, the woman didn't change - well, this was a nightmare. What was she expecting?
Nessa's nightmare was a young female dressed in dark clothes with heavy makeup looking like some Gothic freak from God knows where - at least that was what she thought of her then as a child. Now? The woman was a mystery she couldn't understand.
"We need to talk about a lot of things," She said with a piece of gum in her mouth while Nessa was busy wondering how she was able to chew her gum with her pierced lips and tongue without getting hurt
"Where is mommy? " Nessa found herself asking, cowering from the strange woman. Mommy told her people with piercings, tattoos and heavy make-up are bad people especially those who look like Dracula. Mama told her they won't hesitate to hurt her given the chance.
Wait a minute here, why was she thinking like a kid? Ah, right, because this was her childhood memory
"Don't you know?" Lady Dracula pouted, giving Nessa an innocent look "Your Mama left you already"
Nessa glared at her, "You're lying, mama would never do that to me. She'll come for me"
Lady Dracula's face changed and she hissed, "Take it or leave it, your mama isn't coming back for you. You're stuck in here with me which automatically makes me your mother! " The woman was so close to her face that she did the first thing that came to mind.
Nessa spat on her.
"You little devil! " She hissed, striking her right on the face.
Glaring at Nessa, Lady Dracula walked over to the door and holding it by its knob, she said to her,
"Hate me as much as you want, Nessa but you're stuck here with me forever" Then she banged the door closed.
With a shriek, Nessa ran to the door, banging hard on it, "Open up! No open! Someone, please save me! Save me!"
"Save me!" Nessa woke up this time in reality with a cold sweat. What the hell was that? Of all the dreams she had to have, it was that one. By the way, where was she? The last thing she remembered was….
Her line of sight fell on the figure on the edge of her bed laughing his guts out. Although she saw his back at first, Nessa didn't need to be told that it was Damon.
"What are you doing?" The question slipped out of her tongue - She wanted to ask what he was doing here.
"You're awake?"
"You don't seem to be happy that I'm awake?"
"Of course, I'm so happy you're awake, else who would I bully in my spare….? " Damon trailed off, realizing how inappropriate his words sounded at that moment.
First of all, that was not the right thing to say to a person who just recovered from her fainting. Secondly, he just admitted he was bullying her - that was huge evidence in the court of law.
Damon cleared his throat awkwardly, "I meant to say that my life is boring without you,"
Liar, Nessa called him in her mind. Although it was a good thing he was speaking to her again. It felt…. good? Like they were back to being Tom and Jerry, you know that cartoon. Well shut up, Nessa.
Suddenly, her eyes fell on his phone and Damon seemed to have noticed it as well because he took the phone away.
"What was that?" Nessa was sure she saw something.
"Nothing," He replied abruptly.
"That was definitely something," Nessa pressed, leaning closer to him so she could reach for the phone he kept on his other side.
"It's nothing interesting, Nessa. Just look the other way," He blocked her from every angle she came at him.
"If it's not something, then you wouldn't be so protective of it," Nessa argued and then pushed him down with all her weight, so that when he falls, she could grab the phone - victory becomes hers.
However, Nessa never expected that as soon as she pushed him down, Damon would reach out and grab her waist as well, pulling her to him.
"Y-you," Nessa fell on top of him on the bed and was about to give him a piece of her mind for that lousy trick when their eyes met and she froze.
What the fuck? Nessa cursed as she stared deep into his eyes. Why was Damon so handsome? Of all people God had to create special, why was it him?
However, unknown to Nessa, Damon was fighting his own battles as well because her lips he had been avoiding all this time were now directly in front of him. Was the universe tempting him or what?
